Let us look at it from the angle of reason and logic. Recently, it was reliably gathered that some people on peaceful match for actualization of Biafra were shot and killed in the South East Nigeria. They were Igbos.

Not too long ago, Nigerian Airforce was boasting of a full aerial raid on "mere thieves" in the waterways in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. Many were killed. Those boys were likely Efiks and Ibibios.

In 2000, Obasanjo ordered for full scale military attack on the people of Odi killing thousands and destroyed properties worth billions of naira because the people demanded for better environment. The people were Ijaws.

In 2001, Obasanjo again supervised the killings of several people in Zaki-Biam town in Benue State because the people resisted the invasion of their town by soldiers who were backing the Jukuns and Fulani against Tiv people.

In 2000, Obasanjo permitted full scale operation of Sharia law in Nigeria beginning in a Fulani enclave of Zamfara State from where it spread to several northern states. That period marked the emergence of Mohammed Yusuf with new ideology and the birth of bokoharam.

It's no news that the Fulani herdsmen kill and maim at will in the north central without the security agencies blinking. For those who may doubt this, I have personally seen the victims of the dastardly act at various hospitals in north central.

Someone even said attack on bokoharam is an attack on the people of the north. I can still remember the opposition that greeted Jonathan's plan of emergency rule in the north east.

El-Rufai boldly said if you kill or attack a Fulani man, you're owing death a debt which must be repaid either now or later.

This week, our Chief Olu Falae was kidnapped by the same Fulani. The police made no arrest and the rest will soon be history. I'm sure if it was the Fulani that needed a "Biafra " it would have been granted. The Fulanis walk about with dangerous weapon and no security agent bat an eyelid but let the same weapon be found on a Yoruba, Tiv, Ijaw or Igbo person and the grammar of the police would change.

From illustrations so far, my question is: Is Fulani the most influential / sophisticated tribe in Nigeria? How can the Fulani menace be controlled?

In 1966 a fearless young man in the person of chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu with his team struck and killed the head of the fulani empire the sarduana of sokoto Ahmadu Bello , this strike eliminated whatever mystery surrounding the fulani as untouchable and of royal blood. But what was to follow was not only astonishing and surprising but ridiculously bizzare as the same people who were under the yoke of the fulanis some who were even under life jail sentence now joined hands and in the worst form of betrayal accused igbos of killing their leaders and went ahead to instigate massive genocide of igbos living in the north and lagos

My brother, that still showed how untouchable are the Fulanis in Nigeria.

If you have been traveling widely in Nigeria, you would have discovered that security agents don't stop Fulani for "unnecessary " security search but same security agents would stop and search any other tribe.

For me, 1966 would have been the time for implementation of national conference recommendations but since our forefathers were not wise enough, we continue to suffer their negligence uptil date. I hope National Assembly acts fast.

The only reason why Fulani still operate the way they do with impunity is because of the way Nigeria is. It has been put into their head that they are children of Uthman Dan Fodio and Nigeria is their personal estate. A Fulani man once told me in Onitsha that Igbos are very stupid and that all the buildings and structures Igbos are putting up in that city will eventually belong to Hausa-Fulani. When Ojukwu declared Biafra, one of the first things he did was to kick all of them out of the eastern region back to North. When we get Biafra, nobody will even need to tell Fulanis to stay clear because anyone of them who steps his foot into Biafra will not be going back. Then they can bring on their madness lets match it with Igbo madness and see who is crazier

The fulani maybe very good at using hausa and yoruba slaves to maintain power bht Igbos are not push overs even at the world stage. The greatest fulani man can never get the audience people Chimamanda gets at world stage. Igbos are also recognized as the most intelligent and famous African Ethnic Nationality. They(Igbos) are the only group the fulanis fear in nigeria.

The thread was not meant to vote for an ethnic champion. The Fulanis have wrecked havoc on almost all the tribes in Nigeria, Igbo included.

How can this menace be curbed. This is 2015 for Christ's sake.

They sees nigeria as the inheritance their father UTHMAN DAN FODIO gave to them, that's why in 1966,AHMADU BELLO planned to extend their jihad to every part of nigeria on 17th of january that year but NZEOGWU and co. struck their coup on 15th of january in order to thwart their jihad plan,a yoruba premier (akintola)got killed in the coup because he fired at the coup plotters and also an igbo officer(unegbue) got killed because he was trying to defend the jihadists.aftermath of the coup the yorubas teamed up with the northerners to kill the igbos.

I don't know how you would determine this but I can tell you beyond reasonable doubt that Fulani are the only people in Nigeria or West Africa allowed to carry weapon without fear of arrest by law enforcement. I believe they have they have their own jurisdiction in terms conflict resolution meaning if a fulani kills you, he cannot be charged to court in Nigeria. He reserves the right not to show up. In other words, they are not obliged to obey nor answerable to Nigerian laws. A fulani man told me this 10yrs ago and I have never forgotten. The irony of it he said, most or if not all Nigerians are oblivious this agreement.
