Question....

What is the meaning of Amalgamation?

Why was North and South Amalgamated?

Did the people of the north and south push for the amalgamation?

Who stood to benefit from the Amalgamation?

What existed before the Amalgamation?

Is Amalgamation binding?

In general, amalgamation is the process of combining or uniting multiple entities into one form.

Thanks for your response.

I would appreciate if you can answer the remaining questions I asked.

In the mean time, you did say it is a process. Started by who? The combination is carried out by who? What is the basis of the combination? The multiple entities are related or not? Common goals or not? What is the criteria for 'oneness' of the form or body?

Amalgamation is the joining together of the northern and southern protectorates. Sir Fredrick Lord Luggard amalgamated Nigeria. I feel the amalgamation was more of an experiment.

Great Response.

What is the verdict then?

After a feasibility and viability study, what can we say of the experiment? Is it a permanent experiment? What happens if the experiment ends?

Why would a failed experiment cause anarchy? Who stands to gain from the continued failure? What is d unifying or fusing factor that persists in a failed experiment such that individual components in the process of coming apart will engender anarchy?

...it will cause anarchy because every fukkin state in Nigeria would want to become a country on its own with too much militants and warlords touting themselves as possible leaders. E.G Nnamdi Kanu

And if everyone decides to be on their own is that a crime? People with common ideologies will locate themselves and unite as a formidable unit of theirs. Go and read up about Yugoslavia and how many countries came from it before u call names u know nothing about.

Interesting. Are you saying that there is no country in the world with a population roughly the same as Zamfara for example?

What if 36 countries emerged, for instance? Can you explain the problem please.

Great one. People avoid threads like this.

I love intelligent debates. No one has dissected the questions yet. I wonder why.

There has been a lot said on the questions the OP brought up. Please try to research because those answers are readily available. No need to wake up and just create redundant threads left and right, over and over. It doesnt solve the issue of having a ZOO called Nigeria

Are you scared of the thought of de-amalgamating the country? You sound like someone who cannot have a say on his future. You love the status quo and you cannot stand the thought of a de-amalgamation. Why?

From the resulting chaos, the whole country would be ruled by people with guns and endless supply of ammunition. Women and children would be at their mercy.

Stop this dead story about militants n guns! These are d things people tout to cause fear. Violence n destruction are d prerogatives of the North n d more reason why sane Christians in the South must separate from them. In this failed experiment are they not on rampage with d same guns and weapons? Are women n kids nt being kidnapped or rapeed or killed?

The South has always been peaceful. There is value placed on lives among those who wish to break out from this hateful experiment. When u want to give examples of countries that separated u go to Sudan as an example. What about those that broke put of d USSR and Yugoslavia? How many are fighting?

Good point. I am still trying to understand where violence will come from. Pre-amalgamation was there violence between north and south?

If people agree to de-amalgamate, will there still be violence? Should north and south appraise the amalgamation arrangement?

What will make people think of de-amalgamation in the first place?

There has been crazy violence in the north east even in an amalgamated north and south.

Almagamation is the joining of different entities into one.

The North and South were almagamated for the seamless exploitation of the south by Britain and continual colonization.

The North was against almagamation but their master (Britain) had made a decision they have to abide while the South had their elders' heads cut off to instill fear and force their invention.

The British benefited and still benefiting from the almagamation and the north was given a lifetime benefit to rule.

Before almagamation, the north had their feudal system and was contented with their Islamic religion, they even rejected the education and religion of the British. While the south had a monarchy system in the west and a republican government in the east. They both accepted the British religion and education

Almagamation isn't binding and in the case of Nigeria,100 years was the duration of contract and has expired.

That is the fundamental issue. Now who gave anyone the right to address people as minority in their fatherland? Is it not because without their consent they were lumped with people with larger population? That tag erodes their pride first of all. Before this amalgamation were they not fine?

The people regarded as minority have others with whom they share an affinity and close ties/ideologies/culture with. Negotiation is key and can voluntarily agree to co-exist on clear terms. That is what it should be as is the case in the US rather than this forced mingling where some arrogate to themselves superiority over others due to sheer numbers.
