Accursed m0ron, so Igbos now occupy the Niger River bank somewhere around Gao in Mali, no? You actually won an award for being the dumbest muthaphucka to ever walk this planet. grin grin

During the second half of the 13th century, Gao and the surrounding region had grown into an important trading center and attracted the interest of the expanding Mali Empire. Mali conquered Gao towards the end of the 13th century and would remain under Malian hegemony until the late 14th century. But as the Mali Empire started to disintegrate, the Songhai reasserted control of Gao. Songhai rulers subsequently took advantage of the weakened Mali Empire to expand Songhai rule. Under the rule of Sonni Ali, the Songhai surpassed the Malian Empire in area, wealth, and power, absorbing vast areas of the Mali Empire and reached its greatest extent. His son and successor, Sonni Bāru (1492–1493), was a less successful ruler of the empire, and as such was overthrown by Muhammad Ture, one of his father's generals. He was later called Askia (1493–1528) and instituted political and economic reforms throughout the empire during his reign.

Lmao!!

And what's the correlation between Songhai/Mali empires (you can throw Ghana empire in there since you keep citing pre-colonial West African empires) got to do with present day Nigeria? Apart from a few Hausas who were part of Songhai empire...all those empires never got to present day Nigeria and all the tribes who were part of those empires still live where they lived back then.

How about answer my question, Mr. Airhead? grin

This is the map of Soghai empire.

Can you see where Gao in Mali is located, at the bank of the Niger River? That was what they were alluding to - bank of the Niger River in Gao.

Hausas are all over West Africa and part of Hausaland was part of Songhai empire.

Lol!

Europe, Asia and Africa make up the old world. North and South America make up the New world.

The Caucasians are not natives/ indigenous to North and South America, they are migrants there.

It's a hallmark of Ignorance to compare Nigeria( a part of the old world) to USA( a new world with migrant Caucasians as majority).

Nigeria is unstable, it's an aberration that will never work, simply because there is no basis for unity amongst the component groups, and there are no dominant group/ culture/ ideology to unite the people.

Its like uniting Germany, France and Britain under same country. Such union will never be fruitful.

China is a great nation today because it has a basis for unity. The Han Chinese constitute about 80% of the Chinese population, and provides the rest of the groups in China a rallying point, stability and unified political ideology, that have seen China stand out.

The history of Nigeria can be traced to prehistoric settlers living in the area as early as 11,000 BC. Numerous ancient African civilizations settled in the region that is today Nigeria. An example of one of the civilizations that settles in Nigeria is the Nri Kingdom. Islam reached Nigeria through the Hausa States during the 11th century. The Songhai Empire also occupied part of the region. Lagos was captured by British forces in 1851 and formally annexed in 1861. Nigeria became a British protectorate in 1901. Colonization lasted until 1960, when an independence movement succeeded in gaining Nigeria its independence.

There are no settlers in Nigeria. You have the Bantu expansion which started from around the Nigeria/Cameroun axis and most of the ethnic groups there today are still Bantuoids. Then you have those who created Igbo Ukwu and Nok arts...Igbo Ukwu looks like an Igbo or Igala creation - while Nok has a lot of similarities with Ife arts and they're most likely the forebears of the Yoruba. Nri looks like an Igala thing since it supposedly started around the Omanbala river...but Igbos can always claim it.

Don't debate history with an history buff. You're just ignorant and you have no clue whatsoever, just like all the educated-illiterates who keep compounding Nigeria's problems by trying to create an America that never was.

According to Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bantu_peoples], antu people's migration point started from the areas around Eastern Nigeria and Western Cameroun (see below). Today, their descendants are found in Central Africa, Eastern Africa and Southern Africa in millions. The Bantu Languages in Africa may be classified as Niger-Congo languages too. The Bantu identities are found in languages such as Bemba, Ingala, Isizulu, Ambo, Bemba, Ndebele, Shona, Swazi, Xhosa, Venda, Khoikhoi, Luhya, Makonde, Hutu, Tutsi and so on. The widespread migration of the Bantu peoples is amazing and breath-taking. Though, what I find interesting is the exclusion of the Igbo language among the Bantu language group. By my estimate, it seem the Bantu ancient migration indeed passed through the ancient Igbo-land, and therefore, must have influenced the customs and language of the people of those times.

There is a general belief that the word "person" means "muntu" in the original Bantu language. Through the centuries, this word has assumed many spellings and tonal inflexion in different Bantu subgroups. In the Igbo language, "umu-" could mean "children" which could be a shortened form of MU ntu. Even the Yoruba and Edo languages are not spared as "omo-" is the adopted word for "children" in their languages. I am still researching on this amazing people but at this point, I have these questions:

China Builds first glass-bottomed Bridge in the world. China has just opened its first glass-bottomed suspension bridge, and being nearly 300 meters long and 180 meters up from the ground, it definitely isn’t for the faint of heart.
The high-altitude, transparent bridge opened this past Thursday in Zhangjiaje Grand Canyon in Central China’s Hunan province, according to Chinese newspaper, the People’s Daily. It is expected to be named the longest and tallest glass-bottomed bridge in the world.

Guys, would you dare walk on this?

This is type of developmental strides you attain when a country is over 90% the same ethnicity (Han Chinese), with mostly indigenous religious beliefs. Interests and ideologies would be easy to align.

However, when you have a fictitious country like the Nigerian cesspit - where there are three major ethnic groups with almost the same population ratio. Another layer of smaller ethnic groups with almost the same population ratio. And numerous other tiny ethnic groups. Then you throw foreign religions in there. What you will get is a quagmire with disenfranchised folks and all kinds of interests that will never align, thus creating a cesspit destined for abyss.

that is because they are wise enough as to make ethnicity an issue. something that you biafran proponents are guilty of.

This is the problem with u lot's out there, the other guy was educating you about how hetrogeneous the Nigerian society is which is a clog on it's wheel of progress and he talked about the homogeneous Chinese society which is one of the major reasons why they have accomplished a lot.

You didn't follow that pattern of rational and objective line of thought like the other guy rather you found a way of introducing the ethnic devide again by calling out on the igbos which is also a proof that Nigeria indeed is not a nation because it remains a society were everyones ethnicity comes first before the overall good of the nation as typified by your expression.

You want to become like china with such parochial mindset?

Dream On.

And don't white folks account for over 75% of the population of the US, based on race classification?

So, which of the ethnic groups in Nigeria is up to 75% of the population? - I await ya reply.
