These Old And The New Testament Of A Thing Is Really Causing Confusion. by Princewell2012(m): 1:37pm On Sep 27, 2015
There are so many things that God condemned but you will continue to hear something like these...

That's was in the old testament, and now we are in the new testament.

And i began to asked, has God changed?

His standard is Holiness and righteousness.

And it was the same bible that made us to understand that he is an unchangeable God.

So what actually is the problem now?

For example, dog and pig are not a clean animals to be eaten, it was considered as an unclean animals.

Now if God rejected them then not to be eaten because of his holiness and who he is,
will he now accept and approve them to be eaten now?

That's my question

It's not supposed to cause any confusion, ask yourself this question and the answer will help clear your confusion.

Those laws in the old testament can I keep them?

If yes is your answer then you honestly don't need the new testament but if No is your answer then you already know why Christ came.

Perfect answer
Did Jesus abolished the laws?

Princewell2012:

Did Jesus abolished the laws?

He took the judgement for the law.

The new testament said there is no law. This is because there is no judgement in breaking the law if the offender has faith in the finished work of Christ.
It is a simple logic, The Bible called it justification by faith

Really? but a lots of Christians may disagree with you.

Now lets me ask you this, is it proper for a christian to eat swine?

However there is a place apostle paul said a faith without work is dead.

So how do you reconciles them?

And come to think of it, most of the people that usually say such things do pay and collect tithes which is also a commandment from the old testament.

So who is actually playing game here?

I don't want argument, so let me just drop these verses and run away.

"It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience—  concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation." (Heb 9:9-10)

"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ." (Col 2:16-17)

"For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect." (Heb 10:1)

"who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones..." (2Cor 3:6-7)
the commandments where the ones engraved on stones and the bible says it KILLS.

"But now God's way of putting people right with himself has been revealed. It has nothing to do with law, even though the Law of Moses and the prophets gave their witness to it. God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all:" (Rom 3:21-22).

And there are more and more verses.
So the question is, do you what to rewrite the New Testament or would you rather pray that God would open your eyes to see the harmony between the Old and New Testament.

read the bible from the beginning to the end you will see that God never change but the people of then have potray God a wicked father to create fear into men and control them but jesus came to expose them . One thing happen in new testament that depicted the habit of old laws; see they caught adulterous woman and wanted to stone her but the man that comitted the crime was not caught! Then you will know that those laws were made for the poor, but jesus have come to show us the true teaching how to relate to God.

Point of correction, those animals were also created by God. They were tagged unclean ceremonially. Besides, Leviticus 11 clearly states that these were to be an abomination to the Israelites (not to God Who created them). The Substance is come fulfilling the ceremonial thus rendering it redundant and providing Grace that enables us to fulfill the moral law as we walk in the Spirit.
If we walk in the flesh and live in sin under claims of abolished moral law (no scriptural basis for that), we will die (earn the wages of sin) as Romans 8:13 shows

Jesus aptly summed up the laws in Matthew 22:36-40 nevertheless the old testament is part and parcel of the bible but the present day christians out convenience will concisely quote verses in either new or old testament for selfish interest. The fact remains that the most significant thing in the new testament is the birth, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of our soul because going by the old testament, judgement is without a mediator between us and God while the New testament brought out mediator in Jesus hence the just will be saved by grace.

Has the law been abolished? No,because as the law is stated in the old testament so it is in the new testament but subtly because all the sins related to the ten commandments are still sins in new testament only the means of atonement is difference,so anybody insinuating Old testament to be obsolete or not practicable is ignorant and hypocrite.

Go and ask Paul, Peter, John and also Jesus. Or maybe you should go directly to the Holy Spirit who inspired them to write those scriptures I just quoted.

Or better still, since you know more than all of them, why don't you write your own New Testament?

Lev;11....really? you mean they are not to be
eaten by the Israelites but they are OK for God?

So why were they not allowed to sacrificed them for God?

Now were they clean now?

What are there health benefit?

were they not dangerous to our health?

Peter revelation of unclean animals is a different thing entirely. he is referring to the gentiles.

Or are you suggesting that those unclean animals are now clean today? is that the interpretation of that vision

They were ceremonially unclean then, not intrinsically unclean! Else why on earth will God send a Raven to feed Elijah? and that in the OT? Their being ceremonially unclean was not primarily for the sake of their health benefits. They were allowed to eat locusts too but do you realize these insects covered with chitin store urea crystals which if accumulated in the human body may cause kidney problem?

Re: These Old And The New Testament Of A Thing Is Really Causing Confusion. by Goshen360(m): 5:53pm On Oct 20, 2015
We need to go back to the foundation. That is, the origin of "how the law came to be for Israel" NOT for Christians or the NT believers. But it's going to be a long write up for me here but I will walk you through it gradually with these points below:

1 - God never (originally) intended to give Law to Israel neither does He wanted to live by the Law.

2 - Israel was the initiator of the Law by their acts and God followed-up to give the law to prove to Israel what He was going to do in the end. Hence, the scripture: The Law having a shadow of GOOD THINGS TO COME BUT NOT THE VERY GOOD THING.

3 - The Law came in between the Abrahamic covenant and the new covenant. The new covenant is an offshoot of the Abrahamic covenant but now better in the blood of Christ.

4 - The Law in its entirety (including the 10 commandments) is canceled, null and void under the new covenant - you, Christians are dead to the law when Christ died on the cross.

5 - Studying the pre-law relationship between God and man, one will understand the new covenant better. Studying the relationship between God and man during the law dispensation, you will come to the full revelation of what Christ had done for you and you will never want to go back again to the era of the law dispensation.

6 - Israel NEVER understood or misunderstood and misinterpreted the definition of TERMS used under the old covenant. Hence, Christ came to define it and end the era of the law dispensation and proclaim the original intent of God. That is, taking man out of the equation and it's all NOW the Grace of God

I will expand on these points later and also answer the quest of the OP. Y'all remain blessed.

Hi my brother,

First, you have to understand that new covenant is not a complimentary document to the old; they are both completely different from start to finish. There's nothing in the old that was carried over to the new. Listen to what God Himself said:

New Living Translation
But when God found fault with the people, he said: "The day is coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt. They did not remain faithful to my covenant, so I turned my back on them, says the LORD.
Hebrews 8:8-9

The problem arise as a result of Christian people trying to patch the old and new together or mix them up as being complimentary to one another and then we end up confusing ourselves and causing confusion to the body of Christ as if the word of God contradicts itself.

2 - God had not changed but His operations and covenant had changed. When scripture says God does not changed, that means HIS PERSON AND ATTRIBUTES but not HIS OPERATIONS, WAYS, COVENANT. These are very clear from His word that God in His person had not changed but we read He changed and removed the old covenant in order to establish the new. In scripture, a change from old to new means it is REMOVED! Hebrews 7:12

3. YOU, as a CHRISTIAN are not under that old covenant. God didn't establish that old covenant with you as A CHRISTIAN but with national Israel who was then as type and shadow of the church. The church now being under a better and new covenant has a new and better covenant in the blood of Christ.

4. You will be MISinterpreting scriptures (WRONGLY dividing the word of truth) if you are using a system that is no longer valid neither is it in force (old covenant) to understand or interpret the system that is now in force and valid (new covenant).

God's holiness and righteousness is different from man's. This is exactly what Israel MISunderstood the DEFINITION OF TERMS under the old covenant and many preachers today are still preaching holiness as sinlessness. They teach righteousness as right behaviour. When we "assume" this is what the definition of terms means, we get ourselves in a big mess. Holiness means sanctified and set apart unto God. Righteousness means "right standing with God". It is when you are set apart unto God that you can produce a lifestyle AS ONE SET APART UNTO GOD, that is, you can live a holy life. It is when you are a right standing with God that you can live right. You will produce the stuff in you. Once in a while, you'll make mistake but you will learn, mature and handle things better.

That's my question

The problem here is, you yourself, you're using a system that is no longer valid and neither is it in force to interpret a system that is now valid. The is the same thing that Israel misunderstood the definition of terms. You are doing the same. That is, you when it says unclean, you "assume" it to mean, you will be defile or become unclean when you eat. The same is as of Peter in Acts 10:9-16.

So in Christ, there's no condemnation for eating whatever you want to eat.

New Living Translation
So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.
Colossians 2:16

Now if God rejected them then not to be eaten because of his holiness and who he is, will he now accept and approve them to be eaten now?

Yes, it is the same word of God that accept and approved it to be eaten now under the new covenant. Why? The old is no longer in force\operation and it will be unjust to use the old to govern the new.

2 - You must find out why God will reject it in the first place and later accept it. These old covenant is a covenant of performance unto God by Israel themselves that was laced with pride and boasting in their heart. Their actions and attitudes were so horrible in the wilderness that God had to wipe that generation off. I'll show you everything from the word of God in my next writing. So, God made everything so hard and difficult for them to do\obey

3. Like I said earlier, you will be making a big mistake trying to live up to an agreement that wasn't made to you. It's like you trying to pay a debt you never owed in the first place. So, if you're importing these eating of dog and pig because of being unclean, it has nothing to do with God's holiness and righteousness. That is a regulation God made so difficult for Israel so they can see the need for a saviour, Christ!

I'll contribute more late. I don tire now!

@Goshen360..hmmmm , good, thanks so much i really appreciate your response.

I was told these animals has alots of diseases on them like bacteria, so were they not harmful to our health?

However i thought there is a spiritual meaning to dog and serpent hence the bible speaks so much about them.

But apart from religion i don't like all these meat been mentioned as a person.

But sir does peter vision about the unclean animals mean we should be eating them as food?

Thanks once again.

Goshen will be on your thread like white on rice cheesy but le me address this specific one since I made a decision on this sometime back.

Jesus is the fulfilment of the law, so for you, you can eat what you want, even food offered to idols (see 1 Cor 8 ). But remember, "not all things are beneficial" (1 Cor 10:23). Specifically for pigs, modern science has found out that these animals carry pathogens and stuff that is hard to get rid of, primarily because of their eating habits. So when the law forbade the eating of the pigs, it was acting as a "schoolmaster" (Gal 3:24), teaching the Jews things they did not know in order to keep them healthy. One version calls the law a "guardian".

So can you eat pigs? Of course, you are under grace! But should you? To quote the NIV on 1 Cor 10:23, "I have the right to do anything, but not all things are beneficial". I have the right to jump off a 2 storey building, but.... I have a right to eat pigs all day, but...

Personally, I have found it harder to avoid non kosher food, eg pig meat while living in the west, so i instead try to minimize my exposure as much as possible. And I still dont get the craving for bacon
