There's a reason why their agenda failed and that is because pan-africanism can never succeed
They were too naïve to understand this
rather we as Africans are yet to understand that Its easier to break a broomstick, but very difficult to break a broom . United we stand, divided we fall .

Unity will never be achieved cause many of the various groups in the continent have different beliefs (eg religion), goals, ideals and value system
The present colonial bounderies need to be deconstructed back to the continents original default boundery setting
When this is done the various groups will develop in their own way, at their own pace, with their own template and without the obstruction or interferance of any other group of people
The various groups can then co-orperate based on various mutual interest they might have
Until this is done the continent cannot achieve true development and it will remain doomed

it goes a long way to show why africans and the black race are behind..all races on earth have gone through events that shaped their life. either for good or for bad..we have to forge ahead ..the key thing that is supposed to have been done.. is to develop a system..that will blend the people over time..to achieve one common goal.. the colonialist where able to to this to us..have we done such??. its never too late.. this would have been easier at the independence era.. but some of the leaders though slavery was just about physical chains..the mental one needs to be broken collectively.. if there was massive development in the north and the youths more development inclined instead of religiously and ethnically inclined .. the north will not be in this present state we see it.. we create the future we want.. if you don't..somebody will help you

For those who may not know, Zik lived and worked as a journalist in Accra, Ghana before he became a politician.
That was the time when Ghana was more like the unofficial capital of West Africa, and the political headquarters of Africa, championing virtually everything ''African'' e.g. African political emancipation/independence, and even in social life through music genre like ''highlife''
There was a conscious effort to create a separate African identity in all spheres of life, and ''afro'' was used to indicate the African connection. There were things like afro-skirts, afro-shoes, afro designs, afro fashion. afro music, afro beat etc.
In fact Ghana was where ''Afro-beat'' was pioneered before people like Fela, Hugh Masekela of SouthAfrica etc went to live there for some years to learn that style of music. In fact they both joined an Accra-based band called Hedzolleh..

The issue is not about race
The race aspect was actually brought in by the exploitation and colonial masters (both the westerners and the arabians)
No one in the continent saw through the present race classifications till this people came
Beliefs and value system is wwhat makes people live together not their race
As close related as the europians are in lineage, beliefs and value system they undertand that they are not suppose to be in the same nation cause that's a recipe for caous
They where not even in the same country and they were still fighting eachother (ww 1,2) cause their ideals and beliefs where clashing
The west and the east representing demorcracy and communism respectively where at constant war with each other despite all being of the so called "white" race
Even within each groups they still saw the need to do their own thing seperately
The english and the germans are of the same linage why then are they not in the same country
Majority of white americans are british by heritage but decided to break away from britains feaudlistic monarchy system and form their own demorcratic nation
You also see such dynamics in spain/portuagal/catalonia, holland/belgium, scandanavian countries etc
Present day usa and canada are in good terms with each other but still will not want to be in the same country with each other
Even some nations within the british want out
You can only co-exist in the same space with people who share your values and beliefs wiether they are white , green or orange
Trying to blend people with different beliefs and value system together within the same space is a wasted effort cause it can never ever happen
The north will not develop and can never ever acheive civilisation cause most of it's people and the tribes within it choose to adopt and follow a lifestyle that will not get you development and civilisation
Mental slavery starts first with slavery
For you to free yourself from mental slavery you have to undo the mental aspect of what your slave master did to you
You do this by first by rediscovering who you really are and what you were prior to your slavery
You then go back to your true self and what you where before slavery and start corrections from there
You do this by going back to your true nation cause your true nation is where your real potential as a people laies
This is because no man/woman or group of man/woman creates a nation
A nation is formed organically
The present country and boundry setup of the continent was done for exploitative reasons
It will definately only serve such purpose
Why is are the countries in the continent part of organisations like UN, world bank, IMF etc
Was the consent of the people sort after before they where put in such unions
Whose interests do this groups serve
This things are either corrected or Africa as a continent is DOOMED
The earlier the better

zik was a Pan-African. And if the igbo went his way I think there will be more harmony and never a civil war
see another Nigerian who do not know history. Did Igbos start civil war? I dont blame you anyway. Ask questions and find out what led to the civil war.

Go outside Nigeria you will get books that Nigerian government dont want u to see or read...
