I believe that old age is not a crime, and the youths today
will eventually become old one day.
We need to appreciate the old People who stay around to
serve our country in any capacity.
The politicians all over the worlds don't retire unless if they
are forcefully retired through electoral loss in elections or
constitutional restrictions for term limits.
For Example, In the United States Senate with no
constitutional term limits, most senators are very old people
that have spent about 3-4 decades in the Senate, The same
thing in the supreme Court of USA where the judges have
life tenure. Therefore, we should not expect the old
politicians in Nigeria to behave differently and leave the
political stages voluntarily.
We youths need to bring what we have to the table, show
our talents in performance, compete with the old politicians
in the minds and hearts of Nigerian voters, and Allow the
Nigerians to pick their Leaders. Old politicians who stays on
forever should only be retired by vote in the elections.
We need credible youths to run against the old politicians in
the elections to retire the old politicians just as a youthful
Barack Obama was able to dash the presidential hopes of
senator John McCain in 2008. Meanwhile, We should
continue to Acknowledge the contributions of the old
politicians to the Development of the Country, and avoid
insulting them because of their old age.
