You can not imagine the kind of ridiculous fare some drivers are picking. Someone must have picked the ride the guy is talking about. Especially the 9-5 and side gigs geng. They just want to cover for fuel. Unfortunately, some indrive drivers are so unbelievable, out of frustration, they just want to move about(hard work), driving around like headless chickens. My advice is, they should download uber/Bolt rider app and sometimes check the ridiculous orders they've been picking this period. You run away from 25% doesn't mean you should give indrive riders all the 15%. Indrive is very interesting as is base on dynamic market.
Na true you talk.
Some have actually been doing that for a long time.
Cos something must be giving those week-head riders the hope that some driver somewhere will definitely pick their ride.
Make dem continue.

Much respect, sir.

Motivational speaker, avoid me.

How can I resolve the issue when she just cancelled the ride, started shouting and walked out of the car.

I didn't get physical with her, I was only recording her. She grabbed my hand and bit it. Of course, you will try to blame me to sound woke.

I've been doing this business since 2019, you don't teach me how to handle riders.
Na d question we don dey ask since ? How did it lead to biting of your finger. I wish you can send me a link or how to see the video.
You need to come out cleaned & precise on issues like this. I will be the last person to blame or judge you here. Cos I feel your pain though u think I’m catching cruise.

See I’ve lose guard be4 and lastma towed my car and I came here to narrate story say na me loose guard but I paid 50k to get my car back . (D 50k pain me grin)
Guys consoled me here saying sorry you go recover it has happened to me be4 bla bla bla
Nobody blame again cos they feel my pain and can relate to it. it’s not easy to hustle from morning to come pay lastma 50k just like that. And no be now wey una dey net 200k per day oo grin
Driving in Lagos alone is toxic, anybody can loose guard.

Compliments of the season to this great house.

A while back, I made an inquiry about giving my car to a friend to use on the Uber platform while I was at work, with the hope of netting ₦400,000 as profit, which we would split equally on a monthly basis.

Unfortunately, he travelled for a different assignment, and we had to put the plan on hold until he returns in January 2026.

However, I came back to my home city (Benin city) o celebrate the festive period with friends and family and have been around for over two weeks now. I do not know how to stay idle for long, so I decided to register my car on Uber, Bolt, and inDrive to test the waters by myself.

I was accepted on all three platforms upon registration, I did not do any physical assessment whatsoever, quite strange though.
I turned on my Uber app the next day (a thursday) with excitement and waited for hours in Benin City without a single ride request. After a few hours, I decided to drive around GRA(gapiona, ugbor, ihama and so on), popular spots, and campuses, yet not a single ride came in. It was quite a shock.

The next day, I tried again with Uber and experienced the same thing. On that second day, Bolt approved my account. The moment I went online on Bolt at around 1pm, I got my first request immediately. I still left Uber turned on. I also checked inDrive, but the prices were extremely low on Indrive. Each time I tried to negotiate, the passengers declined my price. I mean, how do you book a 15 km journey for ₦3,000 and still refuse to negotiate? Indrive's negotiation is pegged, you can't go above a certain threshold, usually one cannot go 20% higher than what the passenger put in there, not many will obviously understand what it would cost to move from a certain location to another, they need to review their model, I think.

On my first day using Bolt, which was a Friday, I worked from 1 pm to 10 pm and made a total of ₦61,000 from about 10 trips. After Bolt’s deductions, I was left with ₦48,000. I spent roughly ₦19,000 on fuel, leaving me with about ₦30,000 profit.

The next day, I worked only in the evening from 4 pm to about 11 pm. I made around ₦37,000. After Bolt’s deductions, I received ₦29,000. I spent ₦10,000 on fuel and was left with about ₦19,000 profit.

I did not use the app again for about a five days, I had a presentation and virtual meetings in between from work. I came back immediately I was done with all that last last weekend, and continued my on and off, today, I decided to do full time - from 8AM to 6PM, greed forced me to go till 9pm, , I sha made ₦77,000. Bolt deducted about ₦14,000, and I spent roughly ₦20,000 on fuel, leaving me with about ₦43,000 profit.

My takeaway from this experience is that the job is extremely time consuming and stressful, una dey try abeg.... There is also a significant level of disrespect from some passengers. One passenger threatened to cancel the trip and report me to Bolt if I did not come down to help her load Christmas gifts into my car. I politely declined, and she was furious, but we moved on. As we were going some yahoo boys in a bid to avoid getting searched by police reversed with full force as my car was behind theirs, they ended up hitting my bumper and driver headlight, I spent 20k to fix the damage, but it was quite painful, i wanted to chase after them, but I relaxed sha. The said lady was now apologizing all through our, cos na she force me to pass that route in the first place, her pride turned into instant pity for me. We move sha

At multiple occasions, passengers turned me into their personal driver. One lady in particular, made me her stop and go driver, stopping multiple times to shop for Christmas items. In the end, she paid exactly what Bolt calculated, with no additional compensation for the wasted time. They all did this too, no compensation for time wasted from them or bolt

The male passengers were generally very cool, with mutual respect on both sides. Many female passengers, on the other hand, were quite disrespectful and condescending. If you have a rigid ego, it is difficult to handle e hailing as a partner driver.

On the bright side, you get to connect with people on the street and see the world from a very different perspective. I carried some high profile individuals I would never have met otherwise.

Driving on Bolt Comfort pays significantly more, The additional fuel consumption from using air conditioning is balanced by better earnings, making it a more lucrative option. On bolt comfort, the passengers are saner and more respectful too.

There were several occasions where I was stuck in traffic, yet Bolt did not adjust the fare to compensate for the time spent.

In total, within just two weeks on and off, I made over ₦300,000 net fueling was around 100k or there about

My question is this: why is Uber not operational in Benin City? Or is this how it is too in Lagos?

With these earnings, I am now contemplating quitting my job and focusing all my energy on this when I return to Lagos, while also building my own company on the side as well, he be like I am ready to comot hand for 9-5 sha.

Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by reverendfather: 1:55am On Dec 25, 2025
Indrive should work on their system.
Just like how drivers can't negotiate above or below a certain price point, passengers too should not be allowed to input just about any figure on the app, they should have a minimum value they can input I ln their request, this will guide them better and chase away cheap passengers from the platform.

Bolt and Uber have the perfect system that can determine the exact cost based on location and duration of trip, indrive need to work on this as well, an algorithm that can easily and instantly calculate the minimum price value based on the location the passenger submits

The lady's only argument is that the trip is reading 0.00 because I wasn't taking her to her right destination which you and I know very well that it's a lie and that's what triggered me in all of this.

This is what we would have settled in the car but just watch and see how she just started shouting immediately she cancelled the ride.
I understand the situation better now after watching the videos. The girl was being tricky using the loophole of indrive.

That's a long read (phew!).
What an adventure.
You have had a taste of what drivers see on daily basis. smiley
Lagos experience is x3 of what you experienced in the hustle in your Benin city.
I must commend you for your earnings so far as a test-runner.
That means, if na Lagos you run am, you're fit to make more than x2 net with the same expenses.
Now, I read where you dey think of dumping ur salary work for e-hailing.
First, note that this is peak period nationwide. So, don't let it push you 'YET'.
Before you can decide on switching to e-hailing fully, wait till February next year, then run the hustle and see if you're truly ready to take that bold step. Don't use this December to judge the hustle, it's not new to us.
Myself as a case study, yeah, I dumped my salary work for e-hailing with my full chest, cos my friends who are not even as agile as I am dey show workings doing bolt/Uber full-time.
With e-hailing, wetin I don achieve, my salary work no fit do half of it till today.
But, come back to Lagos first and run the hustle when the peak is over, na there you go know if you fit run am.
I no know how much your salary is, but e sure me say e no plenty, as you don dey think of dumping it since e-hailing don serve you over 300k within a short period already. grin
Indrive is reigning in Lagos, might not be same over there because of fare prices, that's why you no dey see ride there.

I will observe using the January and February window(my 9 to 5 nor go gree me do this sha - I leave my house as early as 6Am and I get back home around 8pm, maybe rather than go home by 5 I will just enter from there, I doubt if I'll be able to do anything meaningful between 5 to 11pm

One other reason I am considering quitting is because I believe, and I know, that I could have doubled these earnings if I were playing on Lagos turf.

However, let me see how it goes in the coming weeks. I will keep you all updated here.

Over the last few months, I have been contemplating quitting my job for my side hustle (startup), which I have been managing alongside my job for one year now. I just need a small source of income to keep my family and me afloat while I continue to build my startup. I could possibly even connect with clients while using Uber, Bolt, or indrive if their riders head correct sha for Lagos

This is why the idea of my friend using my car for Bolt was another option I accepted, but his body language lately has been somewhat concerning.

Na God get power in the end

And this is what I got after reporting. This Indrive is total rubbish. All their support staff are Indians who don't understand the Nigeria market.

I uninstalled Indrive and installed it back yet they wouldn't let me create or even log in with another phone number on the same device.

Please, anyone knows how I can get around this
Use another phone

As for that last part about connecting with clients, I know a couple of people that said same thing but the truth is it hardly work that way.
And one sad truth is if u really want to make reasonable profit on the job u have to be fully focused and dedicated to the job.

but how this is even possible? Just after one minor issue between you and a wicked passenger? They ought to have given you and the passenger enough time to resolve the issue together. This is nonsense

Bros I am weighing the pros and cons like this.
My partner when I told her, she was not happy, she saw it as me downgrading myself, she won't understand for now sha, but maybe after a while she go grab.
I didn't read the whole comment sha... But if ur salary is below 250k and there's no clear path salary progression, IF YOU'RE IN LAGO, you'll be fine with uber, so far ur car SOUND. I understand her concern.... 9 to 5 is stable, she's used to it.... If ur car sound and you dey good area of lagos, like ajah... Lol ego pay you pass, just treat it as ur job( don't touch a penny of profit, till end of month, then pay ur self) then compare to ur normal job, then decide.

I love how you spoke on the good, the bad, and the ugly of this hustle. People mostly only talk about the good.
Yes boss, it's a rollercoaster, but quite interesting.

I hope we learn a lesson from this driver-rider altercation. This isn't the first time issues like this would pop up here and most support the driver, even when he is in the wrong (NOT SAYING THIS ONE IS IN THE WRONG O)

How a driver manages situations is very very critical. Beyond your driving skill, your temperament, diplomacy and conflict management/resolution is the next most essential skill.

Knowing you have a lot more to lose should be uppermost on your mind after safety. And I'm not only talking about issues with riders, other road users too. I remember one uber Suzuki guy trying to force himself into my front one day, I held my ground and after trying repeatedly the guy just brushed my car pulling off my front bumper and carried on like say nothing happen. Na me gats begin sort myself. Time and energy wasted, thankfully no monetary cost. Similar scenarios have happened to me like 5 times, some costing money in repairs.
These are situations I could have avoided but I was standing on my right, and guess what, I was even more upset than I would have been if I'd just let the mad people go.

Like someone said, you can't control other people's actions, only your's. In the long run a lot of these things that get our veins strung out don't really matter not on the other hand, look at the outcome here. A potential 5k loss has become a loss of a whole line of earnings while the girl is out there maybe looking for the next victim.

Let's be wise in our dealings, simple.

Also, guys, put a dashcam in your car and make sure it is visible to everyone, rider and police alike. E dey reduce problem.
