B.Sc. Economics (First Class Hons) Economics (1984); M.Sc. Economics (1987); Ph.D Econometrics and Monetary Economics, 1989- University of Nigeria. Obtained several academic prizes including: The Vice-Chancellor’s prize for the University of Nigeria’s best graduating Ph.D Candidate, 1988/89 session; Faculty prize for best graduating Ph.D candidate in faculty of social sciences; Best Graduating student (M.Sc. Class) 1987; The Faculty prize for the best graduating candidate in the Faculty of the Social Sciences, (B.Sc programme June 1984); The Departmental prize for the best graduating candidate in the Department of Economics, (B.Sc programme June 1984).

I:b: Post-Doctoral Training

Extensive post-doctoral training at various institutions including: The Brookings Institution, Washington, DC (January 1991- July 1992)— training in international macroeconomics and multi-country macroeconometric modelling; Post-Doctoral Fellow, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (September 1992- October 1993); Research scholar at the Centre for the Study of African Economies, University of Oxford, U.K. (1994; 1997)—training in macroeconomics and macroeconometric modelling; University of Warwick, U.K (visiting fellow, summer 1994)— advanced technical training in econometric modelling; University of Cambridge, U.K as Smuts’ Research Scholar (October 1996- July 1997)—audited M.Phil courses in macroeconomics, Theory and practice of econometrics, international economics, etc. Attended over a dozen specialized short-term courses in Europe, U.S., and Nairobi on: advanced time-series econometrics; techniques of computable general equilibrium modeling; macroeconometric modeling; survey methodology and panel data econometrics; Writing, editing, publication and dissemination of research reports; Executive training and obtained certificate on ‘Understanding Federal Government operations in the U.S” by the Brookings Institution.
