◾The Federal Government said it will soon release the first instalment of $10million US dollars to begin the process of cleaning up areas devastated by oil spills in Ogoniland. ◾Actual dates for the disbursement of the money is not yet disclosed, but there were indications that the funds would be largely deployed for logistic arrangements, including setting up of a board of trustees to manage the implementation of the clean-up. ◾An estimated $1.04billion dollars would be required to effectively clean-up the entire oil spill areas in Ogoni land, according to a recent assessment report by the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP). ◾Beyond the expected funds, stakeholders who attended a roundtable to assess the implementation of the UNEP recommendations in Abuja on Tuesday, suggested the review of the NOSDRA Act 2006 to incorporate responsibility for environmental contamination to a separate government agency. ◾They also expressed fears that there might be fresh crisis if the community members are not carried along when the funds are eventually released, hence the convening of the forum. more on...http://nairametrics.com/fg-ready-to-release-first-instalment-of-10m-for-ogoniland-clean-up%e2%80%8f/ |

The truth is that the Northerners would've blocked any budget totaling $1.4billion for Ogoni land and moreover these evil men shouting GEJ would've called him unprintable names and definitely kick against it. 1 Like 1 Share |

He didn't even fix the road to his own village. Plus there's no water supply there either. What's worse is that some people still support him not minding his incompetence. GudluckIBB: 1 Like 1 Share |

this Ogoni people should make use of what they have to the maximum, good things like dx dont last long. Ogoni land houses one of Nigerias ports; Onne port. Eleme in Ogoni is a place made up of over 200companies, big companies minus the ones which produce stuffs like purewater and d rest, they are blessed with sufficient oil and gas, also every family in Eleme has I think an employment slot in the various companies. now the govt wants to pay them cash like this, plus other payments companies use in settling community and the rest. Ogoni is blessed. |

The northerners would've blocked nothing. GEJ was just too weak to be president. As a president and number 1 citizen of a country, you have immunity. Nobody would've dared question his actions while still on seat. LadyExcellency: 1 Like 1 Share |

trapQ: Stop talking trash. First class scholarship scheme was suspended by the HoR because no Northerner made the list. The PIB wasn't pass because of what host communities will get and secondly when the NASS agreed to consider the bill, they change oil host communities to mean the whole Nigeria. Nigeria's politics doesn't favour the minorities in the mist of ravening parasites |

And you're not talking trash?? Who is the president of U.S.A and Who are the minorities there?? As a president, like I said, you have immunity to do whatever you want to, as long as it contributes to the well being of the people. Nobody has no Damn right to question you because of the "veto" power you possess. If politics didn't favour the minority, Obama would've never been president, and GEJ too. The only reason he didn't win the previous elections was a result of 6 yrs of incompetence and cluelessness which people got fed up off. LadyExcellency: 3 Likes |

trapQ: Stop talking trash Mr Man. The NASS withheld the budget for Nigerian Stock Exchange because the President refused their demand to sack Arunma Otti and the agency had to operate with zero budgetary allocation and donations from stakeholders. The NASS owns the national purse and may refuse certain expenditures the President includes in the budget - Fact Spending unbudgeted fund is impeachable offence. |

This is what I call 'rebranded propaganda' from Buhari and APC. We shall only applaud the government when the clean-up exercise commence. APC should Quit the 'will' because campaign is over. 1 Like |

First of all I'm not a "man", I'm a girl Secondly, you should try to be liberal. In an argument, you don't have to debunk what the other is saying by being arrogant. LadyExcellency: 1 Like |

lygn19: Ogoni land does not need this insult from the dumbasses from northern and western regions of Nigeria. Ogoni land needs transformation equal in magnitude to Lagos and Abuja. If the Lagos and Abuja are man-made, why not Bori? |
