Fresh trouble is brewing in the All Progressives Congress, APC camp in Akwa Ibom State as a massive number of people are set to decamp to the leading Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Akwa Ibom State this week.

Most recent is the call on Obong Umana Okon Umana, APC Gubernatorial ‘Aspirant’ and of course the APC, by indigenes of Onna and Nsit Ubium local government areas, for industries and life-touching projects just like the Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel is piloting in the state, rather than further impoverishing them with ‘brooms’ – a sign of slavery.

This call was made last week at an occasion stage-managed by one Dr. Amadu Attai, where unemployed youths from neighboring states were paid to act as PDP decampees. Having seen Governor Udom Emmanuel’s giant strides in the state in just a little above three months, and his growing relevance in national politics, the people revolted against APC’s move to cage them thereby, resulting in the massive return of APC’s slave symbol, the broom.

The people however warned other APC members in the state to desist from mud-slinging, character assassination, pull-him-down syndrome but rather, join hands with the present administration to actualize the industrialization revolution currently witnessed in the state as they are sure that APC’s case in election tribunal will be struck out following the uncovering of many lies of their candidate, Obong Umana Okon Umana at the tribunal - one which he said elections did not hold in Akwa Ibom State.

The people also pledged their unalloyed support to the Udom Emmanuel-led administration saying the payment of compensation for people whose structures were affected in the on-going road rehabilitation is unprecedented.

In a similar move, members of the Accord Party have disowned Bishop Samuel Akpan, saying he is a traitor and an enemy of progress for fighting against the government and planning to disrupt the peace of Onna people with a futile political struggle.

Responding on behalf of the decampees, the leader of the team and a former chairman of council, Hon Nsima Akpan – whose son is currently enjoying PDP’s benevolence under Otuekong Nse Essien, thanked the state chairman of APC and his members for accepting and receiving them warmly into their fold, and urged them to ‘land well’ after the event to avoid chaos and disorder.

Akpan mentioned that the presidential appointment of Senator Ita Enang and nomination of Senator Udoma Udo Udoma as a minister was a good move irrespective of who facilitated the nominations.

He commended Bishop Samuel Akpan on the efforts he has so far put in the political struggle and thanked him for leading the move to merge with the APC. He further stressed that even though he knows about Umana’s N50million gift to Bishop Akpan during the election campaign, he will still assure the APC leadership of the commitment and loyalty of the inductees to the course at hand, as far as their money is paid to them as agreed but warned that the relationship might not last long owing to the fact that APC will lose at the elections tribunal.
