Should Ladies Retain Their Surname After Marriage? by RICHIEBOI1(m): 11:48pm On May 02, 2009 |
It is not right for a lady to retain her father's name (even as middle name) after getting married. She should take the new name from her man --- except theres a very logical reason for keeping the name. |

its very wrong for ladies to keep their surname after marriage, because all kinds of jobless people like will start putting mouth in other people's business as if its their own. so to avoid this kind of pokenoser inserting his/her long nose where it doesnt belong, women should always endeavor to take on their husband's name after marriage. Because people like are very worried about this kind of thing! Its not good for our culture and leads to lack of respect for the god given headship of the naija men. Ladies should avoid upsetting in this manner because we dont want our cultural values to be lost forever and we dont want to be disrespecting 's naija brothers since it upsets Do not let westernization turn your head!!! Our female ancestors always took on their husband's surnames- why rock the boat now? And why making get his knickers in a twist? |

The decision on what name to answer is a very personal one between the couple. Some ladies already are established professionally when they get married and may not always be able to brandish the wedding certificate to explain the discrepancies, others just like it that way. So if they and their husbands don't mind I don't see what other peoples business is in the matter. We all Knew that Benazier Bhutto and Indira Ghandi of Blessed memory were married women even though they answered their maiden names. |

romeo: Why? Thought it was like that in Spain. They don't even use compound names. They marry and their names stay the same. |
