Most of us know Bill Gate to be the world richest man at some point. To some, he is the only name they know when talking about the world richest people. The richest person in Africa is however not in dispute. Everyone knows it is Aliko Dangote but may not be able to tell where he is ranked on the global scale. So who really is currently the richest person in the world? How many Billionaires are on the list of the world’s Billionaires? How did they acquire their wealth?

I got interested in this issue because of the get rich quick mentality that’s plaguing a lot of us today. Yes, it’s OK to want to make it big, and as fast as possible, but when that desire is not backed by the right mentality, we set ourselves up for disappointments, discouragement and desperation. According to a report by billionaire census, Wealth-X and UBS, the average billionaire is 63 years old. Ninety-three percent of the world’s billionaires are over 45 years old.

It is also worth noting that you may not find showbiz stars and celebrity here. showbiz sure can make you a success in your right and give you fame and the good life but not likely to give you lasting wealth and make you a billionaire. Also note that you may not find politicians and government workers on such list because secure jobs rarely make people millionaire not to talk of billionaires and top government officials and politicians across the world can't show the source of their billions even if they have it.

So here’s the thing, if you desire to be a billionaire like me, you desire a good thing but take it easy. It’s a process.

In second place is Carlos Slim Helú, the Mexican business magnate, investor, and philanthropist who ranked as the richest person in the world from 2010 to 2013 and Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway in third place. Our own Aliko Dangote according to the list is the 67th Billionaire in the world.
