okay, to the issue at hand, I want the general house to help answer the question "before you gave your life to Christ, who was holding it?"
I know most of us have never really given it any thought but here's your chance.
Myself, I have an opinion (a theory if you must), but i'll let people express their views first before commenting.

"Giving your life to Christ" is just a metaphorical statement which means that you're surrendering to him, you're letting him take charge over your life, and that you're going to follow him and have a relationship with him. It means you're not going to live according to the dictate of the flesh, you're simply acknowledging him as your Lord and King. So, to answer your question, not giving your life to Christ means that you do not accept him as your saviour, and that you live according to the desires of the flesh.

That's why you see unbelievers, atheists, Pagans etc don't seem to have problems with any other religion but Christianity; it's because they are being controlled by the same spirit (The spirit of rebellion).
