I have noticed that these 20 year old states, Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, and even Delta and Rivers have become great stumbling blocks towards unity among the Igbo people. People have come to take these states as their ethnic identity, even though these arbitary boundaries were only created by Nigeria 20 years ago. I have noticed this 'stateism' is especially heightened among Anambra and Imo individuals for whatever reason. It would be better to fight or bicker over authentic ethnic identities that have existed for hundreds of years like Urata or Aniedo or EzeChima clan, than to fight over imposed divisions. Let's remember this so that these very recent and illusory divisions do not become the downfall of an ancient people. 5 Likes 1 Share

Don't worry, when we get Biafra, one of the first things we will do is to abolish all the states and return to regionalism and provinces like it used to be. It was in the bid of the Devil known as Gowon to introduce unitary rule and increase the power of the North by implementing "divide and rule" that these states were created. It is because of these states that the western Igbos are called 'Delta Igbo'. It is because of these states that Southern Igbos are called "Rivers Igbos". It is because of these states that some will call himself an 'Imolite'. What is an Imolite? What is Imo state? What is Anambra state? Igbos named after a body of water? Just like Nigeria? It is because of these states that the average Nigerian thinks that Igboland ends in the 5 South-eastern states. The states have done so much to divide Igbos to the delight of the Northerners and it must stop. All states must go on the declaration of Biafra!! 7 Likes |
