The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, has referred to the recent secession call from some section of the society as a threat to Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty, describing such as unpatriotic.
Mr. Umanah bared his mind on the recent Biafra and Republic of Niger Delta issues while fielding questions in his office, on the Akwa Ibom State Gazette Tweet Meet, #AKSGTweetmeet, which featured key players in the online media practice.

The TweetMeet, among other issues allowed the commissioner the opportunity of interacting with thousands of online followers of the tweet threads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Live internet streaming on Youtube, provided a window for citizens to ask questions on topical issues.

Describing Governor Udom Emmanuel’s performance in the last five months as superlative, the information and communications boss, asserted that no governor has performed better, pointing at the governor’s commitment to industrialization, wealth creation, job creation, economic and political inclusion, poverty alleviation, infrastructural consolidation and expansion, as unparalleled.

On government obligations to staff and retirees, he noted that government was up to date in its responsibility of ensuring every worker gets his due, except recently employed staff, whose process of documentation were plagued with several mistakes, while some presented falsified information. He however assured that government was considering ways to resolve the impasse.

Mr. Umanah who all through the session was calm despite the barrage of questions from the online audience never allowed the TweetMeet slip through without mentioning Governor Udom Emmanuel’s giant strides in infrastructure, while calling on the people to expect more in the coming days.

He emphasized on the state government’s readiness to revamp the health, education, agricultural and investment sectors of the state economy to create employment, and called on the people to be proactive, and rise to their faith in greatness, as contained in the current administration’s DAKKADA philosophy.

He reminded the AKSGTweetmeet team to always verify their reports before going to the press, to avoid falling victim of unethical media practices.
