The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on Thursday said it would give N2.25trillion ($10billion) concessional lines of credit to Nigeria and 53 other African nations in the next five years to boost their economy.

He also said additional grant assistance of N135billion ($600m) will be made available to African countries by India.

Modi, who made the disclosures in an address at the opening of the Plenary Session of the Third India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi, said the credit lines are necessary because Africa is now joining the global mainstream of innovation.

He said it was time for India and Africa to take their destinies in their hands and stop living in the shadows of colonialism.

He said: “From connecting lives to collaborating for our prosperity, from keeping our people safe to advancing our global interests, the agenda of our partnership stretches across the vast territory of our linked aspirations.

“To add strength to our partnership, India will offer concessional credit of US $10billion over the next five years. This will be in addition to our ongoing credit programme.

“We will also offer a grant assistance of US$600million. This will include an India-Africa Development Fund of $100million and an India-Africa Health Fund of $10million.

“It will also include 50,000 scholarships in India over the next five years. And it will support the expansion of Pan-Africa E-Network and institutions of skilling, training and learning across Africa.”

Explaining why the interventions are necessary, Modi said economic indices have indicated that this century was for India and Africa to build to shape the world.

He said apart from abundant natural resources, India and Africa harbour productive youths who are under 35 years.

He said: “We have lived in the long shadow of colonialism. And we have fought for our liberty and dignity. We have struggled for opportunity and also for Justice, which the African wisdom describes, is the prime condition of humanity.

“We have spoken in one voice in the world and we have formed a partnership for prosperity among ourselves. We have stood together under blue helmets to keep peace. And we have fought together against hunger and disease.

And, as we look to the future, there is something precious that unites us: it is our youth. Two-thirds of India and two-thirds of Africa is under the age of 35 years. And if the future belongs to the youth, then this century is ours to shape and build.”

India is such a strange country. They have some of the poorest neigbourhoods and also have some of the richest men in the world. Some parts of India can be classed as poverty stricken 4th world slums, yet some parts of india can also pass as first world in terms of development.

India is also known to have some of the greatest ICT brains in the world and this same country which some may know only for poverty is also a world nuclear power. Just recently, india even built and successfully launched a satellite into space.

Under agreements and international treaty, most grants and concessions come with a price.
Its not about getting the Greek gifts , but what is the price of the exchange?

PMB must realise that India as a country makes use of its high population to put itself at an advantage IT is true that over 60% of indians are below poverty level, but they recognize their country's pluses and ensure that they add value to what they do.

International relations must be kept cordil and countries must trade with one another. Nigeria is no exception.
The only thing that is always advised is: Sign agreements and collect gigts - only if you have seen the vantage.

Pa Johnson did not talk in interest of ITSEKIRI people but on his own suspicious accord — IPOB ITSEKIRI YOUTH WING.
We are Biafrans and wish to state categorically that we are aware of the restoration of Biafra which we the people of Itsekiri maximally support. Northern people of Arewa support Boko haram how much more we supporting a lawful agitation by our people to be free, since after the war, Itsekiri were made slaves, marginalized and subjugated and hence Pa Johnson gave us no reason no conviction to abandon our quest for freedom we state as follows.
Pa Johnson did not talk in interest of Itsekiri people but on his own suspicious accord. We suffer the same fate as our Igbo speaking Biafrans where few people said to be leaders conspire with power against the wish of the people, they have turned from peoples’ leader to political jobbers who fights for their interest than the interest of the people. We the Itsekiri people are marginalized and treated as second class citizens who have not been addressed; we have no future, hope or stake in Nigeria and so discredit and reject the anti-people statement by Pa Johnson.
We are aware of the move by Nigeria to lobby or bribe few people claimed to be leaders in different parts of Biafra land to make statements against Biafra restoration without consulting the people neither a statement that represents the entire wish of the people which we saw in Enugu as well. Its gross dishonour coming from Pa Johnson to our heroe’s ideology major general Philip Effiong who where ever he is will be happy we carried on where he stopped and make Biafra of his dream come true, mentioning his name there is dishonor.
It is a huge disappointment from Pa Johnson to the people of Itsekiri that when yorubas who have gotten much from Nigeria without being marginalized are clamoring for Oduduwa republic hence Nigeria is a failed states, we the people of Itshekiri that are second class and marginalized are receiving anti-people statement from Pa Johnson.
