Openly gay social political commentator Bisi Alimi took to his page to discuss the reality of Gay people living in Nigeria. Reacting to the tweet Shared here, which he also shared on his page, He wrote.........

So yesterday, a #Nigerianposted this on #twitter. Why it was seriously challenged by many in#Nigeria, it is a simple reflection of the pain and agony #LGBT people have to face everyday. In northern state, police has been on the hunt for gay men, invading their phones and calling their friends, deceiving them to a location where they get arrested for#homosexuality.

If you think this is only happening in Northern Nigeria, think again. The same has happened in last 3 times this year in #Lagos. In #Abuja , just after GEJ signed the law, a group of#Christian went on rampage and displaced 12 gay men from their homes.
They procession destroyed or stolen. The same thing happened in #Bauchiand #Imo states. There is a deliberate attempt by some Nigerians to make the lives of innocent #LGBT people.

These LGBT people are ordinary citizens of Nigeria, going about their normal everyday activities like others. These people are not thieves, #terrorists,#rapist, corruption government officials or fanatics, just people being true to themselves, but caught up in hate and bigotry perpetuated by religion and politics.

These are someone's son, daughter, sister, brother, uncle, aunt and even in most cases father and mother. The eldest of the people arrested 2weeks ago is a 70 year old man. I mean where is our humanity? What happened to that religious values we claim to have? What happened to one Nigeria? How do you sleep at night? What will make you call a police or a military personnel on your neighbour who has not committed any crime or whose only crime according to you is to have loved differently from you? Do you really have a heart? So if he ends up in jail or killed, what would you say that has done for humanity? Do you get a badge of honour of get to have a super-hero cape? Nigerians think, please think.

The zoo called Nigeria is a land of hypocrites. Gay is legal in South Africa and USA yet, SA is still doing better than us and we're rushing and praying that we get to USA. Homosexuality is not a culture but lifestyle. Live and let's live.
