" A man who does not control his temper is like a city whose wall is broken down."(HCSB). The enemies of good understanding are anger and intolerance. It is easy for anybody to become angry but it is difficult to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right reason, and in the right manner. That is not within the power of everybody. Many homes have been wrecked by the spirit of anger; many relationships have been ruined by anger. Sometimes we are angry. We have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give us the right to be cruel. Anger is a very volatile emotion; it can easily become dangerous. It is best to avoid it if we can help it. Anger is never without a reason, but seldom with a good one."If you cannot control your anger, you are as helpless as a city without walls, open to attack." Pro 25:28 (GNB). Anger opens the wall of our life to the devil's attack. Everyday we have a lot of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what we do when we indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside ourselves power over our happiness. We can decide not to let little things upset us. People won't have time for us if we are constantly angry or complaining. We will not be punished for our anger, we will be punished by our anger. If we speak whenever we are angry, we will make the best speech we will ever regret. The embarrassment after the anger is biggest humiliation a person can experience. The greatest remedy for anger is delay. Eccl.7: 9 says: "Do not be quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools." Patience gives us the ability to control our temper or anger. We must not let our anger lead to hatred and cruelty, as we will hurt ourselves more than we would the other person. PRAYER STARTER: Dear Lord, I know that anger is a very volatile emotion. Give me the grace to overcome the spirit of anger in Jesus name.
