South South Niger Delta People Now Have A Common Language by Nobody: 2:21pm On Nov 01, 2015 |
Our history is ours. Our story is 4 us to tell Our desires is 4 us to decide Our wish is for us to want Nobody or group can decide 4 us because they think they have population and so they can shut our mouth just because we accommodate them in our land and territories. Nobody can decide 4 us because they speak one language in large number and we speak many languages in small numbers. Nobody can decide 4us because they are our neighbours. They are not one of us. They are just close by. Today we niger deltans have a common language. That is resource control and Pidgin English. The best form of Pidgin english was created in Warri. We can adopt it as our common language. Just d way d south west speak yoruba despite diff languages like ijebu etc. Just d way d south east speak Igbo even though many of anambra people wont understand ebonyi local language. Just d way d whole North speak hausa despite more than 100 local languages in d north. Les us stop them from dividing us because of our language. Let stop them from telling us we cant be one because we have many language. They have many language too. They only adopted one and use it to claim majority tribe America english that is official english today was actually America Pidgin English at some point in history. In d past America english was seen as inferior english. Today it is a fully accepted english. So let promote Pidgin English (Warri version) as our common local language in Niger Delta. Just d way they speak yoruba, igbo and Hausa. Today we adopt warri version of Pidgin English as d local language of South South Niger Delta people. Dem no fit divide we Dem no born dem well to colobi we land 8 Likes 4 Shares |

GenbIoodykiller: Everything has a beginning. Everything is always recent at d time it is created. The fact that it is new doesnt make it fake. And d fact that something is old doesnt make it genuine either. South south may be recent in our time, but will be old in our childrens time just d way United State of America was new in d time of George Washington but it is old today in d time of Barack Obama. 2 Likes |

atbu1983:When Federalism comes, all geo political zones will be dissolved and every state will stand on its own! Edo state will stand on its own and will no longer be collecting Billions monthly allocation from Abuja when they do not contribute any tangible oil % which Nigeria depend on. Federalism is the way, and why are you from a south south liability state scared of it? 5 Likes |

Kudos OP. But we don't need a corrupted version of any foreign language to hedge our identity on. We can still maintain our socio-cultural diversity under a united, powerful and prosperous new nation. What we need is the resources (both human and material) which we already have in abundance for rapid nation building, economic growth and development; and a lingua franca (English language) which, also, we have already adopted for official communication. A well written constitution that contains fundamental human rights, minority rights, strict environmental laws, acceptable revenue sharing formula and other unambiguous sundry issues based on the bitter lessons learnt from the failed experiment called Nigeria, will be equally, if not more, vital. 3 Likes |

Ugomba: That is where you are wrong. Language is dynamic. Language are derived. The english that is spoken in England today was completely different from what was spoken in england in 1000AD. What you have as english today is derived mostly from Latin. They modified mostly latin and french to create theirs because they were once under the roman control. Pidgin English is not English. It is a different language derived from english and other languages. 2 Likes |

Don't give me that crap of pidgin, even pidgin is pidgin, with different dialects. Pls leave our igbo brothers out of your imaginary scam. 6 Likes |
