With Nasri on sick bed,i'd reckon AW should re-sign Hleb or tke him on a loan to cover up for Nasri,as regards a DM Alonso is a good bet too.

Wenger'll never go for Alonso, that i'm almost 98% sure of. As for the Hleb & flamini saga,a lot of water has passed under the bridge(not chav's o). Let's just consider them our"prodigal son" epiphany. Inspite of callin him mini-me once, i still think There's nobody custom made for Fab4 lik that mongoose. Their communication was almost telepathic. He knew how to make fab feel comfy in his element. Any one wit a good memory'll remember how i cussed Weng for letting him go. As for Nas, i dont think we'll need any one like asap. Cos if T.Roz can stay fit, he'll relish this opportunity to remind the world of his name.

*Touchdown for Ade!
Emmanuel Adebayor has met up with his new Manchester City team mates after arriving in Durban this afternoon.

The striker flew to the South African coastal city to link up with the squad, who play Kaizer Chiefs at the ABSA Stadium tonight.

He was greeted at the team hotel by the Blues’ management team and the club’s CEO Garry Cook,

*Samir Nasri suffers fractured right fibula
Samir Nasri has sustained a fractured fibula during this morning’s training session at the Club’s pre-season training camp in Austria.

The midfielder will be out of action for two to three months. Everyone at the Club wishes Samir a speedy recovery.

It keeps getting better now doesn't it ,we wont buy players even as we are always plagued by injuries. Now Nasri, the only player with a creative flair in our midfield has broken his fibula and will be out till October.Personally,it matters not whether we buy a replacement for Ade or not as we've capable strikers in the squad already,we should rather use the money realised from his sale to get one DMF & one creative MF.Except at least this is done,we will REALLY struggle this season

I have never seen AW 're sign' a player he's sold before.

Wenger'll never resign an old player, well not in recent past or the forseeable future. Arsenal should be just fine, Nasri or not. Alonso is a no-go area, too expensive, maybe too old for the long term. If everyone stays fit, you guys should do well. There's good young cover too in Gibbs, Ramsey and Vela.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by follypimpi(m): 12:15pm On Jul 22, 2009
We all know Rozzi can't stay fit all thru like wise Persie,we need to get a backup.

Arsenal buy ALonso? They can't afford him. Even if Wenger has all the money in the world
But i maintain that a fit Arsenal squad is only capable of mounting a serious challenge but winning zilch!!

I thought his movement to Madrid was done and dusted!
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by edoyad(m): 12:39pm On Jul 22, 2009
Just because he's never re-signed a player doesn't mean he'll never do it when pushed to the wall. These are desperate times. And who said we'll not win zilch cos of kind of players. I please urge you to take time and read a summary of last seasons Bundesliga and see what happened to a league where one club that's a monolith was upended by a better managed, technically sound squad. Mind u in germany, all clubs exist to service Munchen.

You should read up on Wolfsburg transfers and policy for the last 2 seasons under Magath before making such comparisons.

Wetin be all this hoopla over Samir Nasri.

If I remember correctly, he is meant to be a specialist supporting striker
yet Arsenal felt it was necessary to acquire Arshavin to augment their attacking
options in that area.

He played on the wings at various times last season too, and he was adequate at
best. So kini big deal.

I am pleased for the Gunners Rosicky is back. He is an option in the defensive midfield
position I feel, cause I remember he played that part well for the Czech team at the 2004 euro.
Might not be satisfactory to some, but it underlines how useful he could be in the coming season.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by follypimpi(m): 1:30pm On Jul 22, 2009
I still maintain i doubt if Rozzi can stay fit all thru the season,We can request to have Hleb on loan and hopefully sign a DMF who is hungry to break legs to get thru to the ball(Gatusso) grin .

Martins,Chamakh,Huntelaar ?? Whose your pick Gunners.

Eduardo Will Be Back For Arsenal In Two Months - Arsene Wenger
Arsenal fans have been hit with more bad news as manager Arsene Wenger revealed to the clubs official website that Eduardo will also miss the start of the new season.
The Brazilian-born Croatian international returned to first team action towards the end of last season following a horror leg break against Birmingham City in February 2008. However, the striker underwent further surgery on the injury in May 2009.
“We’ll have Eduardo back in two months,” Wenger said. “You do not want to lose important players before the season starts.”
Wenger also explained how Samir Nasri sustained his injury.
“Accidentally he nicked the ball away from somebody who was just having a shot on goal,” said the Frenchman. “Unfortunately he got kicked and got a broken fibula. Not a complicated one but it will take six weeks to heal.”
Following the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, Arsenal fans will be hoping the injury situation doesn't worsen during the club's ongoing pre-season preparations.

Mr biina , i'd lik u to mane one, just one wolfsburg player that was a house hold before last season, even now, since you well learned on B.liga matters. Secondly your doubting whether T. roz can stay fit for long periods falls under the B.liga matters also since that was where he and jan k did their thing. Google his name with B. Dortmund and see how fit he was there. Mind you, this guy's not much older than Rvp if at all he is.

It's funny . . . just last season when we were after him, he was worth 5mil
Infact, the only reason he didn't come was because Barry stayed on at Villa
Now that Madrid's interested . . . it's a whole different story

C'mon here's a player that could have been given out for free this time last year

Even with Wenger's market price, Arsenal can't afford Alonso else they do have bidded!!
As for Arshavin, thank ya stars Chealsea Man city and Real weren't interested. They do have priced him off you guys!!
Its that simple!!

@Emperoh
You still don't get it.
Arsene Wenger will never pay over the odds for a player.
If he sincerely(Not tabloid suggested player)wants a player, he will get him.
Forget all you read in the tabloids.
AW's style is not to go around making noise on the pages of newspapers.
Its the Press suggesting who to buy and from who to buy!
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by doyin13(m): 4:42pm On Jul 22, 2009
Alonso would not be a bad buy sha. . . .

He likes that long ball that can stretch a pitch,
and United's principal weapon.

sometimes last season i just thought you Arses
played so narrow, it was ridiculous

What Alonso brings to the game is top notch;the long passes, great vision and great set pieces.
But is he the much touted DM that Arsenal needs?NO
Alonso can only thrive in a 3 man midfield with someone behind him doing the "dirty work" a la Mascherano.
Unless of course we switch to a formation that will have him,Song and Cesc in the middle of the pack,i do not see him making the much needed defensive impact that Arsenal needs from the middle.

doyin13:

We played so narrow as we lost most of our creative personnels for most part of the season.Diaby was clueless for most of the season,Denilson inspite of what the statistics said about him is not a player with great vision, and until the latter part of the season,Song was never on song.

I think the signing of Arshavin(an extremely talented player who sees a space 3 seconds before any other player) and Cesc having a disciplined DM by his side, the Arsenal of old can return. For most part of last season, even the champagne football was not played.
