When you take to account the amount of money being embezzled in this nation, you have to but agree there's something fundamentally wrong with the mentality of most Nigerians! That's the only possible explanation I could give to all these depressing stories of corruption and misappropriation of public funds.

I say Theodore Orji has got nothing on that guy Suswam!! Arguably the biggest criminal in Nigeria.

That man rode roughshod on Benue for 8 agonising years.

This amount they are talking about isn't up to 1/10 of what this man stole from BIRS alone.

Eight years and the only recognisable things he did in the state was to build the biggest and most expensive hotel in Makurdi (for himself) which he eventually SOLD to the state government with him as governor!!!

The second recognisable thing is his wife's gymnasium, Healthyways, the biggest and best in the state. Next is the new Government house- absolutely useless to the common man.

The man is worse than Theodore Orji!

Something is genetically wrong with blacks. Take a look at all the black countries both in African and in American continent or elsewhere as a nation, you would see the blood line of a consumer. There is corruption all over the world but black nations are not only corrupt but are like stagnates. I do not know why it's like this.

This Man's case needn't not to be investigated. He should be forced to return the monies and tried in a competent court where his punishment will be severe.
This was a governor that would instruct lecturers on industrial action (strike) to lock up the university and bring the keys to him sarcastically. I can still Vividly remember the UHONDO'S local government fund expository saga, where this corrupt governor was taken unawares by a stake holder on how he channels Local government allocation to his pocket, Even had a comprehensive and perceptive write up on one of my political science elective courses exam back days in school on the same UHONDO's case.
I wonder why they're still tossing him around, when they know what to do. I can even bet on my live that GTS (as he's known) didn't win the last gubernatorial election conducted in the year 2011 between him and steven UGBAH of the APC. That election was the worst case of fraud in an election I've seen and experienced, it was a case where you have almost 80% of individuals in the state going against the incumbent, after which the incumbent was still declared winner. Even little children knew that the removal of GTS at that time would have positively changed their conditions of living plying the street with TWO FINGERS SIGN OF CHANGE, yet the corrupt as ever GTS maneuvered his way and was declared winner giving him the chance to continue his looting spree. The EFCC had better come out objectively on this with him or risk sabotaging PMB's anti-corruption campaign.

Omenka, believe me, Suswan is a SAINT when compared to Uduaghan od Delta. EFCC should beam their searchlight on the immediate past administration of Delta State. They wouldn't need to look too hard cos the skeletons are gigantic and very conspicuous.

A very good one and that is if the EFCC can put their act together and bring him to book for the allege crime if he is found guilty. But my concern is when will the EFCC visit Amaechi's (the immediate past governor of River State) case considering the fact that his state setup a committee of inquiry and he was accused of 70Billion Naira fraud of state fund. I want to believe that Mr president's corruption fight is not meant for only his political opponent as perceived in some quarters. Justice for all please.

vivianblog2:
After several days of extended interrogations, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the former Benue State Governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, for money laundering and embezzlement.

The arraignment of Suswam, who ruled Benue State from 2007 to 2015, follows the filing of a nine-count charge largely bordering on money laundering to the tune of N3.1 billion against him at the Federal High Court Abuja on October 2.

Suswam and his former finance commissioner, Omodachi Okolobia were alleged to have diverted the proceeds of the sale of shares owned by the Benue State government and Benue Investment and Property Company Ltd.

The offence is punishable under section 15(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 20111 as amended in 2012.

It will be recalled that in a bid to set the stage for the prosecution of Suswam, the commission grilled him and his former finance commissioner, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia, for many days last month but released them on administrative bail.

The two men, it was learned from their interrogators, were shown documents relating to the alleged crimes preferred against them and they were asked to defend themselves to enable the commission to determine their culpability or otherwise.

A source in the agency confirmed, last night, that the commission was convinced that the former governor and those who aided him to lauder the funds of the state must be charged to court.

The source said: “Barring any last minute hitch, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will formally arraign the former governor of Benue State,Gabriel Suswam before an Abuja Court tomorrow, November 4, 2014.

“The anti-graft agency had on Monday, October 2, 2015 filed a nine-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N3.1 billion at a Federal High Court, Abuja.”

While Suswam is facing the trial by the EFCC, he had successfully stopped his probe by the state governor, Samuel Ortom, by securing the order of the Benue State High Court to restrain the commission of enquiry raised by the governor from investigating his tenure.

It is not clear if Suswam will also get the same court to restrain the EFCC from proceeding with his trial.

This is just theatrics, it will soon go quiet and the case would be forgotten or the court would keep on amending the dates of trial till we all forget he was even charged. This is Nigeria, 90% of the current "angels" in APC have all been PDP party members at a point, so who is deceiving who?. What has been done to James ibori, Emmanuel Uduagan, Tinubu?, even Amaechi has been recognised as a ministerial nominee. What has been done to to get back and address issues of illegal and unjustly sharing of federal oil wells to party loyalists and allies? The farm Obasanjo is farming belongs to the Federal government, the U.K government was the one to really put on the spotlight on Diezanni while our government were busy pondering or pretending to ponder whether she should be investigated and charged. These guys are smarter than many Nigerians, who are just stupidly claiming allegiance to one party or the other. These guys are close allies who prey on the collective naivety of most Nigerians. Watch and see how this pans out, this man will never smell a jail cell, talkless of a black Maria.
