The Historic Debate Of Allama Hilli by BETATRON(m): 12:48pm On Nov 11, 2015
BRIEF HISTORY
He was born hasan ibn Ali ibn mazahir in year 648AH in hilla.
Studied under his uncle muhaqqiq-e-hilli and sheik naseerudim tusi, both prominent scholars ..an exceptionally intelligent student Allama hilli progressed through academic stages with suprising speed.as a six year old,he began teaching 40 and 50 year old student
Once when he did something mischievous at home, his uncle chased after him to punish.as he closed in on Him the boy recited one of the mandatory "postration verses" of the Qu'ran, his uncle immediately fell down in postration, but the small boy who was not yet of legal age was able to excape....
THE DEBATE
The king stared in utter shock, while the courtiers attempted to stifle their laughter.the man from the south has entered the king's palace, but instead of costomarily leaving his shoe outside,he instead clutched them under his arms.He walked straight up to the king and stared him right in the eyes "YOU DON'T BOW BEFORE YOUR KING"? A vizier asked "I BOW ONLY BEFoRE ALLAH ThE ALMIGHTY" the man replied
why did you bring your shoes in with you? The king asked
Well "ONCE WHen ThE PROPHET was doing His prayers in the mosque,a few hanafi scholars had come and stolen his shoes I saw some hanafi scholars here ,so I decided to be careful"
The court erupted with angry protests from the hanafi scholars, who furiously retorted that hanafis did not exist in the time of the prophet
PERhaps it was the malikis" the man said calmly "the time it was the malikis turn to protest
Maybe I am mistaken.ThE Man said "I guess it was the sha'fais"the sha'fais were even louder in their objection
Well it must be the hanbalis then" the man finally said, like the first 3 groups the hanbalis where equally at the ridiculous accusation .
ALLAMAH HILLI then turned to the king and said "these people claim to be vanguards of islam, yet they follow those who were not even around at the time of the PROPhEt(pbuh),and they accuse us of being 'rejectors' while we follow those who were raised in the house of the prophet!silence took over the court as Allama hilli had just given an irrefutable response to those accusing the shias of heresy and unorthodoxy

Ma sha Allah. Thanks for this thread.

Another funny but brilliant story of Allamah Hilli, reported in his biography [Shia Encyclopedia], was when he was a kid learning at Madrasah. One day, the young Hilli was busy playing with pebbles instead of listening to his teacher in the class. His Sheik cautioned him but he continued. So the Sheik decided to cane him but the young Hilli ran away. The Sheik was furious and ran after him. When the young Hilli noticed the close approach of his master, he immediately recited one of the "verses of sajdah" in the Quran, and the master has no choice but to prostrate since its obligatory [for the baligh]. This allowed the kid Hilli ran away. His master later got up and smiled. That was when he noticed the wit and intelligence of his dear student.

Allamah Hilli was a contemporary of Sheik Ibn Taymiyyah. And the book of Allamah Hilli, 'Minhaj Karama fi ma'arifat Imamah' was so disturbing to Sheik Ibn Taymiyyah that he need to write a book as reply, titled 'Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah'. In this book, Sheik Ibn Taymiyyah stooped so low to attack the Ahl al-bayt (the purified household of the Prophet) [alahimu Salam ajma'in]. Sheik Ibn Taymiyyah displayed his Nasibi nature to the extent that Imam Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani declared him a Munafiq.

Allamah al-Hilli is popularly known as Ibn Mutahar (son of the pure one). Out of the Nasibi nature of Ibn Taymiyyah and his customary nature of using foul language, he called Allamah Hilli, Ibn Munajis (son of impure one).

May Allah bless and raise the status of Allamah al-Hilli.
