A Pastor in my area has just been left by his wife for reasons best known to them . She has been having an affair and has now moved in with the other man and wants a divorce. The pastor intends to continue pastoring but it is felt that some people will leave that church as they don't agree with a divorcee being a minister. Are they right to leave because of this? After all he isn't the one committing adultery and would take her back if she asked to return. What would the scriptural view on this be? The scripture permits divorce on the basis of sexual immorality - matthew 19:9 |
