Good try Werder. The team is too dependent on Diego.

If a team tenth on the Bundesliga standing could play the UEFA cup finals when would the likes of Stoke City and West Ham do the same?

When I told you before the match that with Diego missing WB can't do shait. What did you say?
And then, a good team should not be dependent on one single player. Besides he is leaving soon.

SD played totally dwarfed WB yesterday. At a point in time it was unbearable to watch. I really felt for that WB girl/supporter. She was practically in tears. No one loves to see his team totally outclassed.

They all finished the tourney without the trophy.

Nice one Shaktar!

One  (astonvilla  Failed woefully) BIG DIFFERENCE while the other Fought to the end even getting a medal  WB players are in deed Generals - fighting to the end is more of a chive  Shaktar played better on the nite and deserved to win but WB are super stars and worthy runner up!!     German teams are wonderfull.

oh are you not aware that there will no longer be UEFA cup? That was the last of its kind.
The new competition will be named EUROPA Cup from next season.

my own conclusion from this whole UEFA Cup adventure is that, "middle-tier" clubs from EPL just cannot stand up to most of their counterparts in Europe.

Julius will be wishing he was still at Shatkar now. he woulda gotten his first UEFA medal.

what is gonna differentiate the EUROPA CUP fro the defunct UEFA cup?

Yet your friends say EPL is the best league right?

Whenwouldthe likes of West Ham 9th in EPL, Man City 10th and Stoke City 11th in EPL play an European final?

Werder are too Diego dependent. France was Zidane dependent so would you tell us France was not a good side?

I would have preferred Hamburg as they have a much more balanced team.Trochowski, Olic Jansen and Pitroipa can all do it.

I would have wanted Bremen to still win though to show that Arsene Wenger is a failure for not being able to win ANY European trophy in his management career.

Nothing defines a failure more than Wenger

The Uefa Cup is to be renamed the Uefa Europa League from next season, with the competition set to be extended.

The new-look league will have 48 clubs in 12 groups of four, with teams playing each other home and away as opposed to just once as it stands now.

The top two in each group then join the eight third-placed Champions League clubs in a 32-club knock-out stage.

The competition will also have its TV rights sold centrally, in the same way as the Champions League.

This switch should increase income to clubs.

"I am convinced the new format will give the Uefa Europa League a successful new impetus," said Uefa president Michel Platini.

"These changes will improve this historic competition, which is very important for Uefa and for European football as it gives more fans, players and clubs the thrill of European club football."

A statement on the Uefa website adds: "The new name and logo will help underline the tournament's special character and unique sporting appeal.

"Uefa's ambition in making these changes is to rejuvenate the competition in the light of the new European football landscape, which has shifted significantly with the continued success of the Champions League, so that the Uefa Europa League can establish itself as a major competition." [/b]
