After earning his 90 minutes in the spotlight for the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifier at the expense of Mikel -the catalyst- Obi, Sunshine Stars Midfielder, Paul Onobi has thanked Coach Sunday Oliseh, for the opportunity.
The NPFL-based star grabbed the chance giving a stellar performance against Swaziland in the 2nd-leg of the qualifier at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium revealing to footballlive.ng he was admonished to give in his best, and that’s exactly what he did.

Onobi admitted though that he’s still a yard or two behind 64 caps Mikel Obi. He stressed that the Chelsea FC players remains the boss.

Mikel is still the best we can offer in that position.
Oliseh caused disaafection among the players and he wants 100% commitment from them

Mikel is a senior national team player and should be accorded the due respect and recognition by all but Oliseh has shown that he does not give a hoot about the players he demands to make him proud.

Any new player will of course be eager to give all at this stage but when your coach refuses to give you the respect you deserve then you are bound to under-perform.

Mikel still has one world cup to give to Nigeria and he remains the best mid-fielder we have irrespective of the Swazi coach's comment.

Oliseh must look for the right kind of synergy in the team if he wants to achieve alot with this team.

I definitely believe Mikel still have a lot to offer to the team.

Most Nigerians just got carried away with what the coach of Swaziland said. How did the team fare during his absence?? Shambolic display...

Where are those tipped by the press to replace mikel The Likes of Lukman Haruna, Gabriel Reuben, Ramon Azeez, Rabiu Ibrahim etc and now it is Onobi. We all know how Mikel Boss naija midfield in Holland in 2005. Amongst them who has replicated the exploits of Obi as a teenager.

When Obi replacement surface it will be glaring for all to see.

For now,Mikel is our surest bet in that role.
We also need Victor Moses against the pharaohs. His runs, dribble, strength and trickery will augur well for the team.
