Christmas is a time everyone eagerly looks forward to spending time with family and friends. Some people even start saving for a trip right from the beginning of the year. Many Easterners travel back to their home town and the few ones who can afford a trip outside of the country choose to go to Europe or the Americas. However, I would advise you take your time and explore the beauty of Nigeria this festive season, visit the bustling city of Lagos and chill in one of its 5 star hotels, see the oil rich city of Port Harcourt or Calabar, the tourist haven this Christmas.
Abuja:
Visit some of Abuja’s most exciting places with your family and friends this festive season. Enjoy a day at the Wonderland Amusement Park, Millennium Park, the National Children’s Park and Zoo, a picnic at Jabi Lakeside and Pedam Lake, meet people from various nationalities at the Berger Life Camp and enjoy the scenic view of the Gurara Falls. These are just a few of the many opportunities the city of Abuja has to offer.
Calabar:
A trip to this tourist haven is a sure mind-blower during the Christmas season. The Cross River State Annual Christmas Festival between 26th and 27th December attracts several dignitaries, celebrities, foreigners and the general public from all over the country and abroad for this festival. It is the biggest carnival in Africa. Enjoy irresistible Calabar meals, visit the spectacular Obudu Mountain Resort and Tinapa Business Resort.
Lagos:
Lagos is one of the liveliest cities during the festive period. The ever bustling city is never short of places to visit and things to do. Ikeja is home to a number of bars, restaurants and the famous and well frequented Ikeja City mall. You can spend time with your family members and spouse at a 5 star hotel, the Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, beach resorts and clubs on the island.
Port Harcourt:
The oil rich city of Port Harcourt boasts of a number of existing activities like a boat ride, masquerade displays, festivals and concerts. You would surely know that there is something worth celebrating for with the excitement that you feel around the residents and the decorations around the city.
Akwa Ibom
A huge number of worshippers come together on Christmas Eve as the largest Christmas Carol choir in the world, several people come together from all parts of the country to witness this spectacular performance. Visit all the other breath taking views and places the city has to offer.
