Fashola, Fayemi, Amaechi and Super
Ministers Melodrama.

After so much hues and turns, President
Muhammadu Buhari has finally unveiled
his cabinet. Notably among the ministers
are Babatunde Raji Fashola, Rotimi
Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi, all former
governors of Lagos, Rivers and
Ekiti states respectively.
Fashola was given what Nigerians called
Super-Minister of
the Ministry of Power, works and Housing,
Amaechi on his side was
assigned Honourable Minister of
Transportations while my Egbon, Fayemi
was given the Solid Minerals Ministry to
oversee.
Nobody needs to tell or explain to us
Nigerians that this is another
cheap way by PMB to advertise and sell
his three Loyalists to us
Nigerians. Power on its own is more than
enough to stand on its own; I don’t know what made Baba to merge it
with other Ministries. Power
sector on its own is more than enough to
drain the energy out of an
assiduous man, power generation and
maintenance has been the headache
of Nigeria from time immemorial. Works
department is also a heavy weight, Many
Nigerians are still living a destitute life, (go
to Ajegunle area of Lagos
his state). Average Nigerian as a matter of
fact, cannot afford a
bungalow in those mortgage buildings
built by the previous
administrations; much is expected of him
in this aspect. Nigerians are
waiting to see if their will some shelter to
house the Almajiris up
north.
Rotimi Amaechi on his part was
assigned the Transportations. This
entails the Aviation, rail, road and marine
sectors. He will also be
looking to woo Nigerians with his
performance in this ministry. He
will be in control of Nigerian Port
Authority, Nigerian Maritime
Administration, Federal Airport Authority
(FAAN), Nigerian Railway
Corporation, all federal roads in Nigeria
(including and not limited
to construction, maintenance and
supervision). It is now left for him
to play his game accordingly.
Many Nigerians were bemused when
Kayode Fayemi was given the Solid
Minerals Ministry; little did they know that
it is a vast Ministry
with many agencies and departments to work on. Nigeria economy has been on nose diving mode since the fall in the price of oil, there are many solid minerals that can perfectly replace oil as the sole backbone of Nigeria economy if proper work and determination are put into the Ministry. Before the advent of oil, Nigeria was doing well in Agric. Department and the economy then was stable.
For those that may think Solid Mineral Ministry is a child’s play, do you know that Ajaokuta steel company limited, Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscience, Natiional Iron Ore Mining Company, Nigerian Coal Corporation and many agencies are under him? I want you all to know that the Ministry is a massive one.
From the Ministries assigned to each of them, I deduced that it was difficult for PMB to choose one out of them as a man after his heart hence the assiduous and herculean task given to each. Let me say this is just like trying to force three rams to drink from same bowl simultaneously. The dice has been cast among them. To outwit each other with their performances is what Baba is aiming at.
He may be wise in his perception of advertising them to Nigerians through what they may perform and hopes to ensure longevity in the reign of their political party in Nigeria, but Let me say categorically that it will be a survival of the fittest and this may make or mar the trio because Nigerians are no longer into party system, we now vote for credibility and assurance (even though some of us are already biting our fingers for choosing PMB himself).
Let the competition continues, i hope it will be to the development of the country and not to detriment of the whole Nation. He might be right to look beyond 2019 but Nigerians cannot be deceived easily with mere advertisement of his political sons.
