For winning their first ever Federation Cup, Akwa United players and officials get car gifts, courtesy of the Akwa Ibom state government. The Uyo-based team defeated Lobi Stars 2-1 in the finals of the tournament, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. Micheal Eddidiong, a member of the Golden Eaglets team which won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, a club source said, would also benefit from the gesture. The source noted that the players were aware of the promise before the finals, adding that, he believed it spurred them to put in their best in the finals. Akwa United midfielder, Abdulafeez Awakan, won the Most Valuable player of this year's Federation Cup, while his teammate, Friday Ubong, who scored 6 goals in the tournament, won the Golden boot award for the highest goal scorer.
