An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, on Tuesday,
remanded a 41-year-old man, Yusuf Garuba, in
prison for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.
Garuba, who resides at No. 29 Adura Street, Ijaye, a
suburb of Lagos State, is being tried on a charge of
defilement.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Rosemary Samson, told the
court that the accused had an unlawful carnal
knowledge of the girl at No. 4, Ajayi Street, Ota, Ogun
State.
He said that the offence contravened sections 215
and 249 of the Criminal Code, Revised Law of Ogun,
2006.
The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, ordered that
the accused should be remanded in prison pending
the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions
(DPP).
Adebutu thereafter adjourned the case till December
4 for mention.
