Hi NairaLanders,

I was offered a Camry LE manufactured 08/02 (i don't know if that is 2003 model or 2002 model) with the landing cost in Lagos from Cotonou at 1.6M.

Very clean with Fabric Interior.
Driver and Passenger Airbags
Factory Fitted A/C
CD/Cassette Player
Millage less than 80K
etc, etc.

I'll post the VIN and pixs later for check.

@yemstrad,
I think it's a 2003 model from that manufacturing date.If it's not an accident car and the VIN is clear with clean pixs, then i think u have a good price at 1.6M landing with all papers and stuff.All the best man wink

The pics will be the most determining factor in making judgement along with the VIN. There are lots of raggedy cars with clean VINs out there. undecided

Thanks bro, i'll surely post the pix as soon as i'm able to connect my phone to the PC. I'm not in the office now.

Also, mileage less than 80K.
Re: Is This Car Expensive? by Carshopper(m): 6:08pm On May 30, 2009
its an 02 camry and if all goes well - vin checks out, that price is a gud price, cus in lagos it goes btw 1.7 - 1.9mil depending on where you purchase it, so if its lands for 1.6 that is a great buy
Re: Is This Car Expensive? by Delta007(m): 7:00pm On May 30, 2009
The VIN suggests it's an '02.

However, I doubt that's the original mileage. I find it hard to believe a 7yr old camry has only 80k (km/miles), if miles, might be a little believeable; Camrys are not luxury vehicles that u bring out only when the sun comes out, but then you get what you pay for, just my 2kobo!

Let the VIN do the talking on the mileage. All car depends on who owns it. What if its owned by a govt worker and works locally? Drive to work and back. No travelling per se. So many older people drive camry. They dont travel as much.

I bought a classic 1977 Celica GTS Coupe about three years ago with only 29k original miles. Sold it a year later for $7800. Was bought brand new in 1977 by a 60yr old lady. She had the car the entire time until the passed in 2006. I was the second owner. The car was immaculate! The buyer was really happy.

There are so many 2002/2003 camry's out there with less than 50k miles still. But if you bring them ppl go start grumbling. Cost too much!! undecided

Stories go begin about how much e dey sell for berger etc. They will start to offer yeye money angry

Lets see the VIN report and the car pics.

I second promise, Let d vin do the talking, every car brought in frm d states is dependent on hw the owners use am, i have an 03 camry dat has 76k miles and it checks with vin report, so lets nt assume.

Looks like a good car. However, my gripe is that the car has been IN (3)THREE accidents in its lifetime. Though its a relatively new car. The last accident is my main concern cos its described as severe! Accidents in 2003, 2004 and 2008!

Make sure airbag is there and not deployed tho. and tha its not wobbly when driving. Otherwise you have a great car. It wont be a bad idea to get a very competent mechanic to do a thorough check on the car.
Re: Is This Car Expensive? by yemstrad(f): 3:24pm On Jun 01, 2009
Great guys here. Please from the VIN check result above, how many owners before now?

Re: Is This Car Expensive? by yemstrad(f): 4:04pm On Jun 01, 2009
Also, the engine when started came out with both water and steam from the exhaust. The mechanic told me is a sign of good condition of the engine. How far is this true guys?

@yemstrad
I would advise you to be careful before buying this car.
A salvage titled car is not worth your hard earned savings.
For a car to be given such a title it must have been found to be beyond repairs by the insurance companies.
Please for your own sake dont be a penny wise and a pound foolish
If it requires to pay more please wait till you have enough to buy a clean title car.
