It was a classic case of 'boy meets girl'.
Her hair was beautiful, Her make-up perfect, she dressed very well.
He had a good car, a good job, he walked with a bounce.
They met through a friend and fell in love.

She was all he ever wanted in a woman.
She acted like an Angel, like she was superhuman.
She was the woman of his dreams, to be sure.
She had all the qualities he desired and more

The lady, on the other hand, couldn't believe her luck.
She had hit the jackpot without even having to work.
All her problems were solved, her worries ended.
All the broken pieces of her heart were suddenly mended.

In a year, their beautiful courtship had ended,
And before we knew it they were wedded,
On a day that was both lovely and special.
They were made man and wife, it was now official.

So their beautiful marriage started, they were all alone.
Doing their best, learning to live together as one.
It was deliriously Delicious, their marriage union.
They were in love, it was all so much fun.

But months passed, and time went on.
After a while, it seemed initial euphoria had worn.
Their eyes were open, they could now see.
Their spouse's weakness, their faults, all their debris.

In her eyes, he is no longer a knight.
His fault, it seems, are as obvious as day light.
These days, he can never do or say,
Anything special to make her day.

The dirty stockings, the smelly shoes,
The ever sweating shirts,
The bringing home of unexpected guests.
The incessant TV watching, Long hours with video games,
Bringing home his loud mouthed friends.
Made her want to throw in the towel, and say its the end.

He, on the other hand, cannot believe this was whom he married.
She is constantly nagging, constantly pouting,
Always looking harried.
For her, it seems he always does everything wrong.
He hasn't heard her compliment him in so very long.

She didn't dress as elegantly as before.
It was as if she didn't care about her looks anymore.
When he looked at her, all he could see was a nagging unattractive lady,
He wanted to be free.

One night, they had a long, long talk.
On their marriage and how to make it work.
They decided to see one of their leaders.
Maybe he would direct them, maybe he would have an answer.

So that fateful day, they linked their hands,
And walked into the pastor's office to make their demands.
We don't know why our marriage is falling apart.
When in the past, we loved each other with all our hearts.

He gazed at them, his eyes full of wisdom.
He had some advice and he was willing to share some.
He signed deeply and then opened his mouth.
And the following words came out.

There are different reasons why people go into marriage.
Sometimes because of beauty or money,
Or they think they are of age.
And so many of them, very unprepared, start the journey.
And along the way, they find that it's not funny.

You see, marriage is much more than wedding bells.
If you are not prepared, it could be a living hell.
So take my advice, listen to my story.
And your marriage will likely go from grass to glory.

'Many think love is all about gazing deep into each others eyes.
Eating lunches, going out, or together counting the stars.
All that is wonderful, all that is good.
But if that is all that you know, soon you'd be lost in the woods.

'You see, true love is about bearing other people's mistakes.
Choosing to overlook the errors your partner seems to make.
True love is more than a feeling, IT'S A CHOICE.
It's shown in your actions, not just in our voices.

'You do not love your spouse because he is handsome or she is beautiful.
Or his or her gifts towards you are plentiful.
No! You must love them unconditionally.
Love them for no reason.

To love their spouses, many need a reason.
But God calls us to love both in and out of season.
Whether they are at their best or at their very worst.
Just keep loving them, no matter the cost.

'You hear my words and think, 'It's so hard to do what you say'.
But the truth is that love will always find a way.
If you are determined to make it work, then it will.
Just put your mind and heart to it, have a will of steel.

'So next time your spouse acts like they are unlovable.
When it seems loving them is impossible or undo able.
Firm up your heart, resolve, decide 'This journey is for a lifetime,
And I choose to enjoy it.

'Without God, though, all your efforts will crumble.
You may try very hard but you will still stumble.
For he is the end of every wonderful marriage.
For yours to succeed, you must give him center-stage.

'So in your marriage, always put God first.
He is the third person in your union, not a visitor nor a guest.
Ask for his wisdom, Ask him what to do.
He'll order your footsteps, He will always direct you.

Marriage is Sweet, Marriage is Beautiful.
You've just have to work at it.
You'll come out on top, you'll be the best.
With God on your side, you'll definitely pass every test. Shalom!!!
