Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest serving OPEC President. On Wednesday 2 December, 2015, Kachikwu became OPEC president to replace Diezani Alison-Madueke. On Friday 4 December, he attended the 168th ordinary meeting of the organisation in Vienna Austria, his first meeting at the helm. Same day, a fresh election was conducted. 8. Don't post false information on Nairaland. The presidency of OPEC is held by countries not individuals. Nigeria's ends in January so it is only logical for a new election to be held. Nigeria will hold the seat of OPEC presidency until January though 4 Likes 1 Share |
