Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has urged the Federal Government to employ more diplomacy in handling the agitation for the Republic of Biafra.

Soyinka said statements like “Nigeria is indivisible”, “This won’t happen under my watch,” “Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable” would not help matters.

The Nobel laureate spoke in an interview on Channels Television programme, Channels Books’ Club.

Agitation for the Republic of Biafra gained more traction recently following the arrest of Director of outlawed Biafra Radio, Nnamdi Kanu.

The protesters had taken over the Niger Bridge, Onitsha, Anambra State blocking traffic and it took the intervention of security agents before they could be dislodged, leaving some persons dead in its wake.

Soyinka asked President Muhammadu Buhari to approach the agitation in a more diplomatic way, pointing out that he had said earlier that Biafra cannot be defeated.

According to him, ”Once an idea has taken off, you may defeat those behind it in a war but that does not mean the end of the idea.”

But he lamented that he had been misunderstood at the time.

He said the attitude of the government should be to sit down with the those leading the renewed agitation and ask: “What can we do to make the Igbo feel part of the country, what can we do to make them to feel that they belong and not alienated.

“This is what we are ready to push for in the overall governance content of the country. It is not to be carrying on that this will not happen under my watch; Nigeria is indivisible, Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable, he stated”

It isn't too much, "Just Right To Self Determination.. That's all

Last Bullet: Have you ever heard something like "One America, One Benin Republic, One Cote De Ivory, One Ghana or One Germany, so there shouldn't be anything like ONE NIGERIA".

Nigeria Has Never Been United From The On-Set. Soyinka should take note.

The demands of the Igbo is simple.

They do not want to feel they belong, they want out. Simple and short. Allow us go to our landlocked country and see if God will allow us suffer to the joy of haters.

And for all of you asking us to leave first, you are jokers...we will not leave until you take out Nigerian govt presence off all Igbo parts of the SS and SE.

Scotland did it, only a lesser being will expect this case to be different.

Simple...equal and fair treatment. An abo.ki walks into a bank and collect loans willy-nilly, igbos can't.

Reduction of import and export tariffs...you know you hurting igbos is anything happens on trading

Seaport in Onitsha, cargo airport in Oba and proper federal institutions in the east...only task offices are springing up in the east.

Supply of fertilisers...why did buhari even stop fertiliser supply to the east in the first place. Now local rice is 15k from 6k

....now that someone Is asking th right questions and not demanding we remain one for no just reason. Maybe we can, just mayb we can work things out

This man is very funny.
Which one is what can we do to make igbo "Feel." -
we do not want to "feel" we belong when actually we don't. Also we don't want to belong.
We want out. We want our own country. We are not kids that you can blackmail with feelings. We are big enough to know what we want. And it's biafra.
LAND OF THE RISING SUN.

The Ibos come to our lands, bring commerce and develop it as nigerians, we yorubas don't go to hausaland, or Iboland. They have proven to be more nigerians, yet we go around shouting we will never allow an Ibo presidency. We gang with north up to underdevelop the East and yet ask why they troop to ours?
Now they have gotten fed up. The Ibos i know won't back down from this agitation. We should be asking what we nigerians want from Ibos?
