hello gurus in the house,please does anyone know how i can build map app..we were given an assignment to make an app with the map of my school and it will be gps enabled.please help guys

This might help you . use Google mapview api .The hard part is the configuration and download . Plus Internet connectivity .

or just create a mapview activity will be more effective . Talk to a professional (Not free )
you have to make an icon and splash screen image using coral draw or photoshop .

In my view I see programmers need to be good in graphics to make their work neat and to have good UI .
