Former President Goodluck Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari are set to hold a private meeting to discuss the arms deal scandal. According to THE NATION, Jonathan has concluded plans to seek private audience with President Buhari over the statement by former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki indicting him in the fraudulent arms procurement deal. An unnamed insider who spoke about the upcoming meeting said, ”Jonathan will prefer a private audience with the President rather than taking up issues with the suspects in public. Some of the expenditures have grave security implications as they involve some neighbouring countries" ”As a statesman, Jonathan cannot just open up at all. For example, there is a unit where the overhead of past Presidents and Heads of State was taken care of. Some of the funds disbursed by the office had to do with these funds. If Jonathan speaks, will he not rubbish these past leaders? ”Some Presidents from some countries sought financial assistance from ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. Do you expect the former leader to issue a statement on such a sensitive request?. At a point, there was negotiation to end Boko Haram insurgency. Coming from the Nation Newspapers, the President is seeking for truce. We said it before and will repeat again that bringing to the public domain issues of National Security will not only destroy the cohesiveness of the intelligence community it will lower the morale of intelligence officers and bring to public odium the office of the NSA.
