There was a black man that was just released after serving 28yrs of a 48yrs sentence for rape, just based on the lady testifying in court that she saw the guy in a dream as the rapist, no DNA evidence and he was given 48yrs until the real rapist came forward to confess, this happened in Colorado.

Man jailed for 28 years after 'woman dreamt he raped her' to gain freedom

A Colorado man who spent almost three decades in prison after a woman 'dreamed' that he raped her may soon go free. Denver District Court Judge Kandace Gerdes overturned Clarence Moses-El’s 1988 conviction, after he has served more than half of his 48-year sentence.

The rape victim, a neighbour of Mr Moses-El’s, initially identified someone else as her attacker but later changed direction after his face allegedly came to her in a dream, while she was in hospital just a day after the cut...


His break came in December 2013 when another man, L.C. Jackson, sent him a letter in prison saying he couldn't believe Moses-EL was accused of raping the woman because he 'had sex' with her at the same time that night.

Blood stains on evidence collected from the scene of the crime were re-tested last year and the results show that it actually belonged to another man who was subsequently identified by the victim as the assailant.

Judge Gerdes has ordered a retrial for Mr Moses.

The wife had everything "well-planed-out" on how to deal with her estranged husband...and she wont be the first woman to do that. Men just need to be very careful when they start having problems with their wife. better you just "run-away" before she roped you in.

Just reading this narration, l have seen a lot of instances pointing to the fact that his wife brainwashed his daughter, to say these bad things about her father... but the God of Heaven who knows the heart of men, will punish this woman beyond measure, for destroying an innocent man's life..... the same man who laboured to bring you abraoad, to improve your living standard

*Did you notice that this allegation also came up when they started having issues between themselves (which l believe led to the breakdown of the marriage beyond repair?
*Did you notice that no "internal examination" which could have revealed whether the fathers DNA was inside his daughters private part, was done? did you notice that she was reluctant to implicate her father?
*Did you notice that she only did so, at the insistence of the Mother?
*Did you notice that "she looked down" when she implicated her father ... an obvious give-away when a lie is being told!




I have witnessed a situation in a UK court when the white Judge, during a divorce proceedings, told a Nigerian woman and l quote: " Mrs X, please dont go there, this court has heard so many cases of alleged rape by Nigerian fathers, which turn out just to be lies from their estranged wife"; infact, l have come to understand that Nigerian men in general, dont practice such behaviour. If you insist on raising that allegation, l will ensure that it is properly investigated and if found to be a lie, l will see to it that you get the same punishment, the person you are accusing falsely would have got, if found guilty. Do you wish to proceed with this line of statement"?
The Court fell into dead silence and her Lawyer seized the opportunity to tell the Judge they wish not to pursue that line but will like to restrict the matter to the divorce proceedings.

*I also recall a story of a girl who explained, years later, how her Mother instructed her to lie that her father raped her...and he was JAILED. The lady now grown-up, is seeking the court to overturn his conviction, after spending so many years in jail, for an offence trumped-up by his estranged wife.

Thank you boss for pulling up the story, so people will not think I made it up. The Naija guy also probably couldn't afford a good lawyer and was probably given a public defendant who normally don't give a fvck about your case if you black or immigrant. The American justice system is tilted heavily in favor of people with money that can hire expensive lawyers .

I totally feel you on this one. I have two friends currently residing in the US. Both of them came back to Naija to pick wives. At this moment, both of them are divorced. I can't call this a coincidence. The legal and family system in US does not support the sort of traditional African belief of a fully submissive wife and children.
Yes, a discontented wife can set his husband up, and that might have been the case in this instance. But we are not sure. The court had decided, and had given it's verdict. Nothing short of a confession from the wife and daughter that he didn't commit this crime, would set him free.

One thing missing is, the defence lawyer could have made the effort to find out what led to the parents changing schools for the girl. the claim was that it was because she was molested. Now, the mother claimed that wasn't the case, but that the school was expensive. If investigation revealed that the mother lied in this instance, it will spoil her credibility with the jury. A very sad period for Mr. Ngene.

If the legal system in Naija were this strong and functional, our society would be a much better place. As it is, rapists and pedophiles often get a slap on the wrist and set loose, to look for their next victim.

He had the chance to prove his innocence, but I guess the Nigerian in you guys will never really let you see beyond your noses. Sometimes, I wonder less that Nigeria is in the quagmire it is in when people like you are around there.

Merely from the child's statements, it is very apparent that the man might have done what it's claimed he did. Not just in the mode in which she delivered her testimony, but also considering that if she was lying, she would have been jailed instead.

The man was arrested while "he was trying to go to Nigeria to bury his mother". Isn't it just evident that he was trying to escape justice? Wouldn't an innocent man stand to sort himself out?

And isn't it so convenient that he said she was raped in Nigeria, where the law's hand of justice will not reach? And shouldn't he go out to identify "the neighbourhood boy" he claimed was raping her when he saw them?

This man appears as guilty as a boy caught with his hand in the soup pot, and it's just okay that he is getting what he deserved.
