The Kano State Taskforce on Scarcity of Petroleum Products has directed all independent oil marketers in the State to stop selling more than N5, 000 worth of petrol to motorists reduce fuel scarcity in the State.

Chairman of the taskforce and State Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Rabiu Ahmed Bako, who gave the directive on Saturday during the committee’s fact finding visit to Kano Depot Zone of NNPC.

Bako added that any filling station caught in the course of diverting fuel or selling the product inside gallon will also be sanctioned to discourage black market.

Comrade Bako said the taskforce will commence midnight inspection following a clue that most filling stations in the State are selling the product to black marketers at the mid night.

He told the depot manager, Engr Salisu that the taskforce will also need to open its office within the depot’s premises to enhance effective tracking of trucks movement from deport to their various designations.

Our correspondent reports that the committee and the Depot Manager also resolved that the oil marketers should be sharing their dispatched fuel with their various branches within and outside the metropolis to avoid congestion at a particular filling station.
