One of the historical accounts that has taught me to always listen to every side of a story is the account of the RWANDAN GENOCIDE.

Movies like "Hotel Rwanda" showed that Hutus committed genocide against Tutsis, and that Paul Kagame was the "Savior of Rwanda". The TRUTH is that Tutsi led Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) started the invasion of Rwanda to gain political power years after the Hutus overthrew Tutusi dominated political elites. The Tutsis felt the need to regain power, so the RPA which was the made up of mainly Tutsi refugees and was a military arm of Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), deserted the Ugandan army and converged to invade Rwanda.

The RPA suffered initial defeat until Kagame took the leadership of the rebel army. He gained grounds and oversaw the massacre of HUTUS during his invasion, which strengthened the ethnic tension and feeling of reprisal against TUTSIS. The Rwandan government signed a joint governance agreement with the RPF, but KAGAME was not done yet. His aim was the leadership of Rwanda.

The killing of Tutsis was a reprisal against a perceived coup. The reprisal against Tutsis was triggered off by the assassination of Habyarimana, the HUTU leader of Rwanda. The presidential plane was shot down on April 6, 1994 and evidence has shown that the hit was planned and ordered by Kagame to trigger events that would justify his RPF led army's continued march to Kigali.

Kegama was aware that there was palpable ethnic tension in his country at that time, and that a trigger would ensure that the country would be engulfed in an ethnic based genocide. HE WAS AWARE OF THIS AND HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT. He fueled violence by ordering the president's plane to be shot down, and he watched as Hutus massacred Tutsis as a result of his action. He preferred to stage a rescue operation by carrying out revenge attacks on Hutus. The revenge attack was done on a massive scale with very low global media coverage.

An estimated 1 million lives were wasted during the genocide. The population of Tutsis before the genocide was just over 500,000. At the end of the genocide, 200,000 Tutsis were murdered while 800,000 HUTUS were killed in revenge attacks by KAGAME's RPA. Kagame achieved his aim and emerged the leader of Rwanda.

He has since sustained a vigorous effort to stifle media accounts about TUTSI's genocide against HUTUS through collusion with the West, constitutional manipulation, political assassinations, incarceration of opposition figures and dictatorial impunity. He is not only targeting HUTU opposition leaders now, he is going after the Tutsi members of his political inner circle that deserted him in protest against his blood thirsty dictatorial tendencies. He has ruled for two tenures and has conducted a referendum to ensure that he rules Rwanda for life.

Movies like HOTEL RWANDA depicted just half of the story. Infact, the Hutu genocide is more horrifying. If it is ever screened, Hotel Rwanda will look pardonable. Kagame is the highest ranking political criminal and human rights violator in power that has overwhelming support from the UN, America and Britain. He thinks that he is a god. Rwanda is under a blood thirsty dictatorship today and elections are determined by numbers chosen by Kagame and his political hegemons.

Goes to show that you are not really conversant with the political situation in Rwanda. To start I agree with you that what triggered the genocidal war against the Tutsis was the death of the President of Rwanda via a plane crash in 1994. Till date no one has come up with plausible explanation as to what led to the crash, but the majority Hutus believed it was planned and executed by the leadership of the minority Tutsis in order to gain political power. If you care to know, the West does not like Paul Kagame because he remains one of the few African leaders who are not only self- assured, confident and intelligent but has been able to stand up to the colonial tendencies that manifest in master- servant relationship between Africa and the West. Furthermore, he has been threatened many times to be dragged to the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They wouldn't do that to their allies or someone you claim the West supports. Back home, he has remained a unifying and stabilizing factor in Rwanda and continues to make effort towards total reconciliation of the Rwanda people not so much along the Hutu Tutsi divide but ensuring national cohesion, unity and solidarity. The Rwandan nation under him has become one of the most organized and orderly countries in Africa. Their economy progresses year on year basis and illiteracy is being tackled aggressively. Inter marital union between both ethnic group has been the highest since the creation of that country. In summary, Paul Kagame by African standard is way up there. If we have a leader with a fraction of his dexterity, man and resource management, intelligence,sagacity in Nigeria I think we would have gone a long way in our March to nationhood.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Kagame is an intelligent repressive dictator that has found a way to twist the minds of Africans like you.

He murders anyone that dares to oppose him;

If you dare to be outspoken against him, you are accused of denying the truth and jailed!

He has always had the support of the west.

You will need to do a little bit of research before debating here. Beware of half truths.
