Japan fixed this quake-damaged road in just 6 days! How long do you think it will take the Nigerian federal government?

Depends on location.

Abuja 2 months max.

East: maybe never.

Ojoro is a function of location in Naija for some things.

We have to search the budget for that, if not budgeted, it will take a year and a half on minimum.

The variables that'll need to be considered:

The government in power
What part of the country is it (Determines if it should be looked into at all)?
Who'll be awarded the contract?
What part of Nigeria is he from?
How much bribe will be involved?
How many people are lined up for kick-backs?
What part of the country is it (determines how the chiefs and youths should be settled before contractor commences work)?
How many lives has been lost there?

Constants:
The contractor must belong to ruling political party
People must be bribed
It must take a long time to justify the inflated cost
Road must be blocked without caring how much the citizens suffer
Residents and road users must inhale lots of dust if it's fixed by RCC and in PH
...

After harvesting all these info, then we may develop a mathematical model that'll compare our level of civilization with Japan, and then, baam! You have the answer.

There is a road in Nasarawa-Toto LGA that links Abaji in Abuja. That road is not this bad at all but it has been dug out in many places for repair before the year 2000 that I first ply the road till today, the road remains the same! That is like 15+ years.

3 Months from the damage for the Minster of works to visit the site.

6 Months after that and after much pressure in the media and a quite a few deaths from Road Accidents the contract is awarded.

3 Months after that the Caterpillars and tippers arrive the site, a few trips of Sand are deposited.

1 Month later the contractor stops work, calming they've not been paid their 'mobilization' fee.

3 Months later after more pressure from the public/Media, the Govt spokesman claims the contractors have been paid all monies owed and work will resume 'once the rains have finished'

1 week later the Contractor denies they've received any payment.

2 Months later (after more deaths) The House of reps send a delegation to inspect the road, the delegation report back that a full probe of the Federal ministry of works is required.

12 months later after a 'Full probe' it is discovered that the contract to repair the road was grossly overvalued and many senior govt officials received illegal kickbacks. Depending on which side of the political divide those senior govt officials now sit, some are arrested by EFCC while others are left alone(All animals are equal but some are more equal than others)

A full 2.5 years later the road is still not repaired, a new ministers promises to 'Accelerate work on the road' and people keep dying in road accidents. cool

If it leads to the house of one big politician, it could be done in 3days.
If it leads to one big estate, then let's say 2 months.
But if it leads to one of THOSE PLACES, then it will appear yearly on our budgets and probably on the bill boards as FULLY COMPLETED. Ask Rochas, Ohakim and T. Orji.

By asking "how long" means work has already begun.
The question should be "when will" and the answer is : As long as there is an alternative route, the road might have just reached its end time.
