Psalm18:He sounded like a full grown adult; 25 years old and above. I received multiple smses telling me what the pin was for my facebook account but no account name was specified in the text. It means he tried logging into my account using my email address but didn't know my password hence the multiple text messages I kept receiving. |

charix: M sorry but this sounds a little dumb. You don't have to know Facebook sef to understand you shouldn't give out your password, pin, pan no (for banks) or C.V.V code. Why did you pass on your password to someone over the phone? What for? Makes no sense to me. He mistakingly put in your phone no and he needs your pin/password to do what? Log out or what? #confusedmuch 2 Likes 1 Share |

This actually happened to my aunt in Canada. Same process. The fraudster then text one of my aunt friend using my aunt phone number and requesting for $500. My aunt friend was surprised not because my aunt asked her $500, but because she received the request via text. The friend then asked my aunt to call her so she could speak to her. The fraudster immediately text that he was driving and cldnt text. My aunt friend then called my aunt and they both found out that a scammer has been playing them. They wasted the fraudsters time untill he stopped texting. Beware of scammers and be at alert. |

OP, your Facebook privacy settings must be really lax. Probably means your phone number on Facebook is visible to all. You need to lock your account down. I have NEVER and WILL NEVER provide Facebook my phone number. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hahahahahahaha. This isn't new. I fell victim of same thing some years ago. Just exactly like this. I lost my Facebook account to the idiot. He changed the email and everything I could use to get my account back almost immediately. Dude was so fast and smart. The idiot was even calling to ask for my security answer. Hahahahaha. Well, that was how I quit Facebook till date charix: |

airsaylongcon:no, it's simple. It's just a matter of him resetting your password. Which Facebook will send to your email and phone number, when it does, he calls you up asking for the password link. Claiming he mistakenly used your digits for his account setting which you will ignorantly send to him. He immediately uses the link to set the password which automatically gives him access to your account. I once fell victim 1 Like 1 Share |

saintuu:Once the person had access to my account he sent a message(as me) claiming he was low on funds and needed an urgent transfer into his account. He claimed my account was having problems so the money had to go into a friend's(his original) account. He then posted a Lagos state bank account knowing fully well my facebook details point out my location is in port harcourt. I guess that was what raised my friends' guards and they alerted me via whatsapp messages. |

Realdeals:Makes more sense than concluding they guessed my email address. Use the phone number as the user ID and request for a password reset. Facebook will authenticate by sending you a Pin.Already done and dusted. Thanks. |

OK, the person that is behind that scam is someone that knows you.. He/she may not be the one that called, but he is the one that gave them your information.. A friend of mine in Italy recently tried something like that with me, but immediately the message to reset my password came in, I already know wats happening.. |

That's the only way out. It's not even advisable to put up your number. That's the number one mistake airsaylongcon: |

Some use innocent boys like beggars, bus conductors to register scam lines for them. So if there is any account number for any lodgemnt, inform the police, the fraudster can be traced through his BVN. 1 Like 1 Share |

charix:Very dumb, how did he get your number? 1. Your instinct should tell you immediately that your account was about to be compromised immediately you received that message. 2. If he typed your number in error, he could restart the recovery process using the right number. 1 Like |

charix: You just gave him access to your Facebook and Whatsapp account!. You're probably using same password for both. I wonder why a Nairalander could still make such a silly mistake after all the info on this forum. He must have changed your password already. Login to facebook and change your password within the next 24 hours or you wouldn't be able to do that again. 1 Like |

yomi007k:If u know u wanna do sumtin shady wit ur line will u register it wit d correct info? So u c it can't hlp. Even the account am sure was opened wit a false info (fake name nd address in drivers license + an old deliberately ugly pix that won't be recognized ). And the OP shouldn't be worried coz a scam like this can never work. Only an extremely dumb person will borrow a friend money with only conversation on Facebook. Probably he's after something else. If he's a smart scammer (which he might be) asking for money from ur friends might not be wots he's really after (that's just a decoy, a small pawn in a larger scam plan) just be careful OP, because you never know when u might jam a really smart strategic scammer. |

I totally agree with you in this case but, sometimes it is not for fraudulent sake (nt talking about the 50k request part) There was a time i lost my mtn line wch i used in registering my 2go account without retrieving. I had to call the person who bought my old but reactivated line to help me retrieve my 2go password but he refused, thinking that I was a 419er, so I had to stay clear. |
