Details of how President Muhammadu Buhari intends to fulfill his promise of paying the poor and vulnerable 5,000 monthly has been revealed.

The President said his intentions was to ease the hard life Nigerians are facing and make them independent by helping them acquire small and medium scale trades that will sustain them in times of need.

The President said his 5,000 monthly to the poor will go a long way in helping many Nigerians cope with the hard times. He assured all that the disbursement and procedure will be fair and true to the tenets of justice and equity.

The President revealed all these during an interview session with Mansur Liman of the BBC Hausa service on Christmas eve.

He stressed that his administration will ensure that monies meant for the poor would not be diverted by heartless and dubious politicians who do not have the people's interest at heart.

He warned all politicians who might have harboured the thoughts of stealing or engaging in corruption during his administration to have a rethink as anyone caught will be made to face the full weight of the law.

He said: "It is not possible for everyone needing it to get it; but the Federal Government has said it would collaborate with the states and local governments. At the local government level, almost everyone knows each other. It would be easy to identify those to give who would go into trading and how to get it back. It would be like a cooperative and we all know how it operates.

Also, state governments would identify those who have capacity to employ more people and all we need to do is to empower them. Our people already know how to go about implementing these modalities to create employment for the citizens."

The president assured Nigerians that he will deliver on his campaign promises.

If this is done in all fairness we know which section of the country over 90% of that money will go.

If there can b quota system in federal job distribution then there should b quota system with this also. The quota should b distribited in proportion with the population of states. Classification of "poor and vulnerable" should b done at states level. A man classified as "poor and vulnerable" in say Lagos may fall under d middle-class in Yobe.
