Andy Uba Loses At Supreme Court Again by moneygurl: 3:52pm On Jun 11, 2009
A seven-man panel of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Idris Kutigi, this morning in Abuja struck out Dr. Andy Uba’s motion which asked the court to set aside its judgement which terminated his two weeks tenures as the Governor of Anambra State in 2007.

Uba had earlier gone to court to ask for the revalidation of his victory at the 14 April 2007 election and return him to office. The Apex court threw out his case. Subsequently, Uba made another attempt to get the court to remove the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who took over from him when he was removed by the Supreme Court.

The court in its ruling, delivered by the Chief Justices, observed that Uba’s attempt to lure it into setting aside its judgement which was delivered on 14 June 2007, is a gross abuse of the court process. It maintained there must be an end to litigations.

Specifically, the court insisted that it must bring an end to Andy Uba’s frequent abuse of court processes and dismissed his application.

According to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, “In order to foreclose a further gross abuse, this application is hereby dismissed. This court considers this matter as closed.”

The Apex court went ahead to award the cost of N30,000 against Andy Uba in favour of all the respondents.

Re: Andy Uba Loses At Supreme Court Again by sheriffman(m): 8:33am On Jun 13, 2009
Now for the Andy Uba,Nuhu Ribadu and El Rufai stories, this all shows us the type of leaders (so called),politicians and elites we have in this country.(Though I cannot put Uba and the other two above in the same category) but then this seems to be the general trend of out of favor politicians and technocrats.it's really sad for me to read similar stories on Nairaland and pages of newspapers on the conducts of this group of people either in or out of power.Let's just keep praying that the country will be better by the next elections at least with people like Fashola and Bukola (not neccessarily them) in strategic positions where they can touch the lives of ordinary Nigerians. For me I think what an average Nigerian leader (with good intents)needs is prayer for his heart to continue to do the good he intends and not be corrupted or swayed by selfish politicians and sycophants.
