Can anyone here develop software to achieve the following:
To upload scanned books or softcopy books into system for viewing via html
Compress scanned files to reduce space consumption.
To detect and archive books which have not been read for say 6moths (space management procedure)
Maintain unique identifier for each document, maintained in a database that will ensure easy and quick retrieval when searched for
To be accessed within the perimeter of the department building via network access

DSpace can do this. And it's free. Free as in Freedom (open source)
