In the wake of incessant shootings and the refusal of the US lawmakers to create strict laws on gun control despite presidential pleas and campaign, the president of the United states Barrack Obama today announced background checks is now compulsory before the purchase and sale of Guns. In his words,

"Every single year, Over 30,000 Americans have their lives cut short by gun Violence"

"We do need to feel a fear of urgency about it"

"The constant excuses for inaction no longer suffices"

"Background checks will now be required in gun stores"

"For lawmakers who are quick to blame gun violence on mental illness, here's a law to guard against that"

Gun laws varies across the US states with different restriction however the second amendment law of the US constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms. Obama says the new law does not conflict with the second amendment. Gun dealers must do background checks. Anyone who violates the new law will be prosecuted. The president who became emotional and shed tears while delivering his address said innocent people's right to worship and go about their daily business without fear of being shot must be protected.

Good to see Obama use veto in the absence of common sense by republican senators.

If IPOB goats were in USA they would start protests and petitions

I don't agree with Obama and his gun control policy. I'm emphasizing that he defied law makers and no one is wailing or calling for his resignation

That is the power of the president that the legislature and judiciary cannot do anything about.

Igbos hope you are learning what a Presidential System is. It is not about fake shouting of rule of law, dancing like cannibals and carrying Israeli flags around.
