@all

Thanks people, I do my best. Pidgin English is my lingua franca, but funny enough, you wouldn't believe i started speaking pidgin english at about age 16. By my tenth anniversary of speaking pidgin  though, I realised that it was a more carefully structured language than we care to take notice of. That was when I began my study of this language and it has been a very wonderful experience.

Ehen, no shaking my people, na my internet bad so man pickin no be say I bone Nairaland O!

Lesson to be continued after a thorough revision of my previous posts. Meanwhile I still have something I posted in pidgin and I'm reading something else by a friend. I'll post dem if the interlude gets too long.

If no be you, we still for dey mad
Thank you say this blackness go soon stop

Na white better pass, you born half caste
Which kain palaver come be all that?

Oyibo sir, abeg I know understand.

Everything wey black jus bad
Black magic, black leg, even black heart sef
With your skin like overall eczema,
Na you still wan dey criticize.

But me I never see person wey black before
Me na yellow, my wife brown, my pickin chocolate.
E come be like say na ya own brain black
you no see black but you think black, you imagine black.

So now who come black?
Your coat, your car, everything black
Dye you hair black, smoke your air black,
wear dark shade make you dey see black.

So bros, tell me who come bad.
You wan' come brainwash your slave:
"Black is beautiful"; "black n proud"
you forget say black na state of mind.

You don already black finish
You jus dey shame to talk am
But as you dey resist na ya sef you dey punish.
You wan black, you dey try, so claim am with pride.

"Crazeman wey 'gree don already cure.
So go ask John Hawkins, ask Lord Lugard.

Let's quickly look at some auxillary verbs
"will" and "shall" are substituted by "go" to state promise or obligation to future action usually in combination with other verbs. It is also used to show the future tense. The auxillary verb "go" should not be mistaken or cannot be used interchange with the verb "go" which is also used just as in English to mean to move, to leave or depart, to travel. This auxillary verb "go" can be used as indicated below. eg:
I will pay
I go pay
Mike will drive
Mike go drive
It is Mike who will drive.
Na Mike go drive.
I shall go home
I go go house (home in pidgin english is used to indicate hometown only)
we will know what happened
we go sabi  wetin happen

They shall sleep here
Dem go crash for here  (for in pidgin can be used to stress indication location or situation)
The auxillary verb "should" is replaced by "suppose" in pidgin english to show duty or also generally in expressing the future tense too, but regarding duty or events "meant to" happen with a high degree of certainty. Similar to the use of the "suppose" in English, but in pidgin english, suppose is more widely used. eg:
You should be online
You suppose dey online
Peters should beat Tyson
Peters suppose beat Tyson
They should be in prison
Dem suppose dey creg (in is never used in pidgin sometimes replaced by "inside" but generally, It's just done away with).
In questions which begin with "should", the pidgin translation "make" should be used. "make" is also used to replace "let" when used in requests or suggestions. eg:
Should I marry her?
Make I marry am?
Should there be light?
Make light dey?
Let's get stoned
Make we high
Let there be light.
Make light dey.
Some basic useful phrases in pidgin english.
Which levels?
What's up?
Fall hand
disappoint
shine eye
be observant
Siddon look
docile
Wetin dey?
What's happening?
How far?
What's new?
Go Slow
Traffic Jam
Area boy
Thug/Tout
Bad Belle
Jealous/Jealousy
