EFCC Raids Former Customs Comptroller General’s Residence by kunledegreat(m): 11:51pm On Jan 08, 2016
Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday raided the residence of the former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko, in Abuja, ChannelsTelevision reports.

The anti-graft agency arrived at Mr Dikko’s house at 6, Ahmed Musa Crescent, Jabi, at about 7:00am local time.

Mr Dikko was not at home when the officers, whose mission was not known, arrived.

Cameras were not allowed into the premises but police men were seen outside his residence.

A relative to the former Customs’ boss, Mohammed Usman, told reporters that about seven officials of the EFCC were in the house to carry out search for documents.

“A team of about seven operatives of the EFCC in company with some armed policemen arrived at the residence at about 7am and have been in the house for the past five hours.

“From the information available to me, no search warrant was presented before the commencement of the search,” he said.

Faulting the search on the ground that the operation was carried out in the absence of the former comptroller-general, the Customs boss’ relative said “the only people in the house at the commencement of this search are his children who are below the ages of 18”.

Mr Dikko, who is from Katsina State, became the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service on August 17, 2009 and resigned his appointment in August 2015, barely two months after President Muhammadu Buhari came into office.
