Can someone filled with the spirit of God please give an unbiased explanation on the concepts of pride and humility? because I see people going through abuse in church by church leaders and they just remain in it, all in the name of humility.

They are debased and obviously they are bitter about it but all they do is murmur amongst themselves and they never do anything about it. Notice also that these same people will not tolerate it if the same is done to them outside;

Why should you do in church what you won't do outside; is it not hypocrisy?

Is humility not been used as a control mechanism to keep people in line and make them endure abuse by these leaders?

Notice also that these same leaders only fear and respect the wealthy but they despise the 'poor'. They tremble at the sight of 'rich' people but despise the 'poor' looking.

They have no iota of humility in their lives but impose it on congregants using manipulative messages.

Why do the people remain in a place like that?

Why should I?
I don't get it.

People will definately despise you in your life time and the church is not a different place where such happens because people there are human...Learning to act differently and choosing your words wisely wiill go a long way in proving your humility but that does not mean you will start doing eye service...

Humility is the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people -according to the online merriam webster's dictionary.

And this definition explains alot. People can claim to be humble when they re in the presence of or with people they consider better than they are; pastors, bosses, etc. Colossians 2; 23 mentions this kind of humility.

But the real test of genuine humility comes when we re in company with those who by many standards may seem inferior to us. Can we really show that we feel and think that we re not better than them?

These explains why someone would allow his/her pastor give them 5 lashes of cain for coming late to church, but will quickly rain abuses on their spouse who dare to ask about their whereabouts.
