Nice points. Lemme also add that over confidence and not checking up the company properly can also lead to not gettin d job.

I also want to add here that lack of preparedness contributes. Such as reading the wrong materials and not having access to dumps of past job tests. I am gathering those materials gradually. Takes pretty long.

Also, having more equal qualified hands compare to the number of slots needed by the interviewer. In this case, its only God's favor and who knows who that can get you the offer.

They look for only 2 things:
1 - Can you get the job done
2 - Are you a likeable person

real reasons is limited space

Many are qualified but are not skillful and lack basic experience in their profession

No matter how arrogant and cocky you appear, if there is a job for u, u will get it - Jose Mourinho is a shining example.

Had to do interview for the first time last week, HR was wasting my time so i had to handle the stuff myself.
I was shocked that some people just can't express themselves.

One chap with 2.1 in Eng. was just looking at his feet all through, once he brings up his face to meet mine, he goes down to his feet again. 
I asked the other one (OND), after introducing herself  'So what do you do currently'? She was just staring at me with that feeling of 'what da hell do you mean, sir'? I had to repeat it three times, then i started explaining what i mean before she could get that.   

Since that day, i began to pity my HR folks. It ain't easy.

was part of an interview panel a month ago and one of the ladies was brilliant but whenever she was asked a question,she answered arrogantly by wavin her hands at us,
She was asked,why wld u want to leave ur current job for this one.She answered "is because of the pay",stil wavin her hands as if we are toastin her, can u imagine?

First of all, There is no hard and fast rule to failing an interview;

I remember sitting for one about 2 years ago and I thought I did pretty well. At some point, I had taken control of the interview. At the end, I was told "we will get in touch you in due course". As I stood to leave, I just gave them a killer smile, reached into my pocket, brought out a complimentary card I had made with all 3 of my mobile phone numbers and gave it to them saying "Just incase the day you try reaching me, that number dosent work". I remember the interviwers broke down laughing so hard that one ladys eye even started tearing. She pulled out her card, gave it to me and said give me a call later.

I got a call the following day!!

Just go in, relax, answer whatever question thats thrown your way confidently, be articulate in your speech, no arrogance, read your interviwers and throw in some humor every now and again.

I have been to many interviews and I have worked in several companies. One thing you can't take away from me is boldness and smartness.

The day I went for the last stage (interview with management) of my current job, I displayed much confidence with the help of hang over still in me.

I made statement like if you can't pay me , , ,no deal. But I have made inquiry about how much they use to pay their staff of my category now reduce mine with 5k.

I sat with confidence that at a point I almost cross my legs. The MD himself call me later and I have been promoted to a managerial post and if not that day, I have not had the opportunity meeting my MD seating face to face and eye ball to eye ball again but am sure he will always remember that day.

Again, when you are asked about how much they should pay you, call reasonable amount. DON'T EVER SAY NEGOTIABLE, I said that twice at two occasion and instantly they will say we will get back to you which they will never do. Research d company it helps a lot.

You can ask the receptionist, just be polite cos she knows if eventually you land the job and she was hostile to you on ur first day, she is in trouble.

You should add 'If the interviewer does not like your face'.

In addition to your qualification and experience, I think confidence is the key but mind you, no HR likes over confidence. I Attended one Interview sometime ago, and after the Interview I was told the usual thing, 'We will get back to you'. On reaching home that same day, the job offer letter was already waiting in my Inbox. Sometimes, this HR people can be tricky and you will not be asked direct questions. So you really need to be good and choosy in the choice of your words. For example, you may be asked, Discribe yourself, Discribe your responsibilities, Why do you think we should not hire you? how are you going to improve the company? What do you know about this company etc.

I was once asked in an interview "Do you agree with the saying ''customers are always right?" I said "Yes" but the interviewer could you see in face that i was not being honest with that answer!

Do you know why you got the job? Let me tell you. Prior to the interview, you had played the whole event in your mind and saw yourself victorous. In fact, you had imagined yourself working in that company, Remember?

There are things we put on CV that are no longer neccesary such as religion, place of birth, referees, local govt etc. These can be provided on request.

people don't get employed after interview simply because cannot highlight an event in when they worked with a team and succeeded in handling a task (be it a research or project in sch or a business or technical task at previous place of work). You also have to be bold & articulate.
