Risk of hepatitis B and some other infections. If poor hygiene/unsafe equipment is an issue where done. In organised countries, people with tattoo cannot donate blood and organ/bone marrow in some.

Head scan or full body scan, u are not supposed to put on jewelries in any of eida ct or mri.

As a general rule, you will need to remove any metal objects from your body, such as jewellery, hair clips, etc. It is best not to wear clothes with metal zips, studs, etc.

There are two reasons to remove any metal object doing scan; One is so that the anatomy is not obscured. The other reason is specific with MRI, since it is magnetic, any ferrous metal will be attracted to the magnet and will cause body injury and expensive damage to the equipment.

In this case, he is having a CT scan of the head. I know because if it was for other parts of the body, he must take off his cloths because of the zipper and buttons which will cover needed anatomy, resulting in repeating of exposure. Repeat exposure means more radiation to the patient. Google ALARA.

So, he is not suppose to take off his watch for a head CT.
