A Sonnet For My Loveliest... by joseph1832(m): 1:09pm On Jan 17, 2016 |
My loveliest, thou who fill me with joy. Thou who take my heart and maketh it dance; Like a marionette; played like a toy, Makes me happy and put me in a trance. Shall I compare thee to the Rose flower; Which blossom and pollinate all of me, With rapt tenderness that I now cower; At the mercy of your love. Yes I see, The purity of your love which shines and Radiate like the stars above for it smile At me and 'fold me. Indeed it is grand. Yes! It keeps me warm and very agile. My loveliest, words can't express, the love- I feel, 'cause, it's pure and shine from above. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

ANALYSIS OF THE POEM PLOT: The plot is base on a man who finally finds love and he was so much in love that he decided to express how he feels. After using so many words to express and explain just what he feels inside, it finally dawned on him that mere words can not really express just how he feels, because true love can not really be expressed, no matter how one try to express or explain it. STRUCTURE OF THE POEM: The poem is a Sonnet, that is, an English or Shakespearean sonnet, written in 14 lines with 10 syllable per line. It can also be structured in 3 quatrain and 1 couplet. It has the rhyme scheme of ABAB, CDCD, EFEF and . POETIC DEVICE: Diction: The diction used in the poem is a combination of English language used during the era of Shakespeare and the one currently in use today. That is, it combines Shakespearean English with that of modern day English where words like thou, thee, maketh were visibly seen as its not in use today. Archaism: This is used in lines 1, 2 and 5 in the poem. That is, 'thou' 'thee' and 'maketh'. Symbolism: Used in line 5 of the poem. 'Rose Flower'. Simile: Used in line 3 of the poem. 'Like a marionette' and 'played like a toy'. Enjambment: This is used from line 9 to line 10 in the poem. End-Stop Line: Used throughout the poem except where the line break in line 9 and line 10. Elision: This is used in line 11 and 14. The words 'fold, can't and 'cause were shortened to conserve the syllable structure of the poem. Repetition: Used in line 1 and 13 in the poem. The words 'My loveliest' was repeated twice. Personification: This is used from line 10 to line 11. "For it smile at me and 'fold me". Metaphor: Used in line 5 of the poem. "Shall I compare thee to The Rose Flower". THEME: LOVE. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Great one from Bro. Joe. 10 syllabic word count per line. And the analysis is topnotch. Who is the mystery girl? 1 Like |
